It ran in another CF tube but the wear was at the hinge blocks and the G-10 hinges.

Thanks for the heads up. Should be good at the two upper points as they are almost an inch each and running in aluminum sleeves. We'll keep an eye on the lower one. A guy could drill out the G-10 and sleeve the rod with aluminum. Don't want to go to steel that far back. CARF uses brass rods running in a Bakelite type material.

Working on the belly pan. I scribed the ply formers to the front and rear of the saddle area. Then I removed some additional material equal to the thickness of the fiberglass pan. Next I screw these formers to the fuselage to make fitting the pan easier. The rest of the fitting will need to be done with the wings bolted on. When completely fitted, I'll add some additional wood structure, and then fill the pan with spray foam. This will make it virtually indestructible in the event of a belly landing, something the P-47 excels at.

Figured out the front mount. I'll finish the back after it is fit to the fuselage.

Finished installing the cowl chin dividers. Smoothed the resin chin from Meister with some Icing, then I shaped the dividers from hardwood and covered them with foil before installing them.

Installed the cowl and made a slight adjustment to the cowl flap gap. Done.

Think it's time to clean the work bench. Hope to get this baby on her feet tomorrow. My "wing man" my brother's shop is where we do that. More room. We had the wings and fuselage together only once, just to check the fit of the wings as built per the plans, and the fiberglass wing saddle area. It is a near perfect fit. Only minor adjustments to the cord in the center. Stick to the plans and you will be good.

The second uniting of the wing and fuse will be to program the wing systems, do the final fitting of the belly pan, and a preliminary CG check. Paint, the cockpit detail and pilot, and other details may change this later, but I want to get it close before it leaves next week. When we converted to the Moki in Zombie, we needed no Steel Powder in the cowl due to the heavy engine.

Another master piece from your work shop. Great job my friend...

Will this one be again Zombie?

The owner will get to do the fun stuff. Remembering building Zombie.

She begins her 5th season of flight next week in at an event in East Bend North Carolina. Really looking forward to it.

Hello Mirce. Thank you my friend. I think John has a different Jug in mind to model. Don't think he likes doing checkerboard cowls any more than I do.

So Gary, I think I may have found the engine for my Miester.

170 four stroke quad.

Head to head is under 11" this may fit in the cowl!

thoughts?

That would be something. I think you are right. It just may fit. If it is 10.75" or under it will most definitely fit.

Brian Omeara (not sure of the spelling, sorry Brian) has a 420 four cylinder in his 144" jug and it sounds pretty good. I have seen it in person. That engine is a two stroke. Your engine would sound even better, I suspect.

Brian's Jug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpBNjdyFjOY

Same Jug with a Moki 400 radial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE8Y3dYSb1w

Another 1/3 scale Jug with a Moki 400 radial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKUEuYxfWt4

I still think that the 4-stroke radial is the ultimate for this type, but the opposed four 4-stroke should sound pretty good. I'd like to here it.

Ok, the wing fits the wing saddle perfectly, and the belly pan was fit to the fuselage front and back. I had hoped the pan would be as faithful to the plans as the fuselage seems to be, but alas, it is not. It fits well in the back, but the front is too tall by 3/16.

Because we made this a two piece wing, I wanted to keep the flange on the removable belly pan to make a nice contact point to the wing. But it looked like I was going to need to cut it off to reduce the height, but Brian suggested taking a wedge out and glassing it back together. I liked that idea. So we cut a wedge of material out, and then taped it back together to check the fit. That fixed the height and I still have the nice seat for the pan.

Not sure why we had to do this. The wing is built dead on, and fits nicely in the saddle. The pan seems to be the problem, but just about anything can be fixed.

I tell myself this every time I screw up, but it is true! Anything can be fixed or redone.

yes a Moki would be best but twice the cost.

120 is still an option, would love to make it with cans and dump the exhaust out the back scoop like the full scale

Drawings show 274mm at 10"-24/32" so it may fit, just don't know much about roto moto.

Scale exhausts would be easy to do with a Y collector.

Yea, but really, the exhaust only exited the shroud in the rear at high altitude when the waste gates were closed and she was on the turbo-charger. Exhaust coming out the waste gates is totally scale as well.

We do a system check after everything is built. This is done in such a way as to have access to the fuselage so we do this with extensions.

One correction, I say the green nav light is on the left, obviously, it is the right.

Concealed drive for the flaps. Similar to what is shown on the plans, but DO NOT use the torque drive that is shown. Way to much flex in that system.
