I got two fuel tanks, two bombs and two nacelles (wing bomb/tank brackets) from horizon hobby, they are accessories (1 kit) for hangar 9's discontinued 60 size P-47. I got them about 6 months ago for about $35. I haven't checked lately to see if they are still available.

thx for the comment

thanks Tom! It was a lot of work, but enjoyed doing it. Getting the tail wheel doors to work was a challenge. I used two minature servos so that i could get the doors to close/open evenly. I tried to attach linkages to the retract mechanism, but could not figure out the geometry. Hopefully, I won't be too tail heavy!

I learned a lot, so when (if...Ha) I get to my scratch build Brian Taylor BF-109E, I'll do better on the gaps, hinges, etc.

thanks again

Hi guys!
Several days ago I've finished conversion of my P-47D to electric version.

The setup is:
Dualsky ECO 4130C-V2 470kV
HobbyWing Platinum 80A ESC
APC 16x8E
Zippy Compact 6S 4000mAh 60C

She flies very well (yet she is little tail-heavy). But the battery a little bit bigger than needed (in terms of linear dimensions - 149x44x54mm) so it's a bit tricky to fit it in.
Anybody with electric versions, what brand/model of battery do you use?

Can't post maiden flight video due to forum's limitations.

Here is a good solution for the battery location to get it to balance without adding weight:

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try if I can't manage balance issue with adding weight.

I think, I've managed the balance problem (for now at least), and she flies well:

What's your comfort wind conditions to fly Thunderbolt? Today we have 5-7 m/s wind speed with 9-11 m/s gusts from one o'clock of runway direction. Nothing special, but good chance to practice.
