RE: Giant Scale Twins F7F Tigercat
turned out OK, I suppose.
It's amazing how huge those C-ARF Corsairs are... the Avenger and the P-51 are 108" and 102", respectively. They look tiny next to Bill's Corsair.

No &%#*, Larry!!!!
The old blue-head, OS .40 LA looks like it might be just enough for the Kellogg Avenger!
The C-ARF are impressive up close and personal... I'd never seen one in person. Bill's is gorgeous! But like I said, it's incredible how massive they are. They stand tall and proud on the flighhtline, that's for sure!

Now that you have some flying time on the Tigercat, have you had any trouble with wheels seizing on the axles due to the weight? I took my wheels to "Airman Wheels" to have bearings installed to keep this from happening. Reason for the concern, I have a 50% Edge 540 that has had that trouble on both main wheels hence the concern with the Tigercat seeing that it will weigh more than the Edge 540 does.

Hey, Mark.
How are you coming along with your new F7F? Get it balanced OK?
I have had no problems with wheels seizing. Despite it weighing 69.5 lbs, the Likes Line wheels roll perfectly fine on the Robart steel axles. The Likes wheels are machined aluminum with brass bushings pressed in, which essential function as "bearings." At least I think the inserts are brass. I would have to pull it apart to check.
If you want me to confirm this, let me know and I'll put my coat on (Freezing cold in OKC this weekend!).
Keep in touch!
Noah

Jeff, what's happening up there? Hope you're well.
Mark, you should have sent me a note. I could have given you a tour of my shop (i.e. introduce you to the Tigercat). Maybe on your way back to KY in the spring.
I have an UP3 valve (Ultra Precision) installed to sequence the gear and gear doors. Works like a champ. Is the system you're getting from TBM a mix of air and electronic?

I will take you up on the introduction to your Tigercat on my return to KY in late March 2014, as far as the Wilke gear & door sequencer, its all electric operation with servo's instead of air. You should go to Troybilt models website under scale accessories and watch the video. I think you might like it for future projects. They are out of stock at this time and I'm on the list when they get them in stock. Let me know what you think.

For whatever reason the camera didnot record the sound, so a friend and I had to add sound.

Hahaha!
Nice work, Steve. I thought maybe that footage was lost. I actually prefer your "dubbed" twin radial sound, as opposed to the 222cc's of whiney 2-stroke sound!
Thanks for sharing!
See you soon,
Noah

I just looked again at that video, Steve! Your shots from behind during take-off are a bit upsetting! (6:15 mark of the video). I never knew how totally out of control that beast is on take off!!!
I'll have to work on the nose wheel steering/sensitivity this winter.

Noah,
I watched the video segment you were describing and thought you did a great job.
You had your rudder input in,but as the 72 pound plane accelerated and got lighter on the gear, it looked like the uneven surface was creating some bounce that increased with speed causing steering problems. However you maintained directional control through it all.

Noah,
Totally Awesome...beautiful plane great flight and landing.
Work progresses slowly on the Trojan as we wait for a relatively calm day to take the Avenger to the field before the really cold weather sets in.
Best
Larry

Noah,
Beautiful plane! I've always thought it so sexy with that long thin fuse. After watching your video, it looks like you may have gotten a little bounce from the ground and lost steering(do to the bounce),while at the same time not having enough speed for rudder authority. I really don't see it as an issue of your piloting abilities.
perhaps a little down elevator to hold the nose down a little more and giving the nose wheel a little more authority?
Casey

Hi Mark,
I used HiTec 7955 titanium geared servos (333 oz/in @6V) on all surfaces. Each elevator half has its own servo, as does each section of flap. Aside from those I used ultra precision nylon geared JR servos on the throttles, and a JR mini-servo for the gear valve. In all I think I have 13 servos installed on that thing.
Christmas shopping for yourself? Hahah

Hey Noah,
Awesome job on the Tigercat. I had two of them . One an old RC Kits 72 in. span and one a Palmer 86 in. Both flew very well even on one engine. Ask me how I know . LOL What happened to all the small planes you bought from me. LOL
Merry Christmas,
God Bless,
Fred Menna Check6
