RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
The quality of the ESM me-109 is better yes. The fiberglass is better quality and isnt as heavy and its a better type of fiberglass. But...its also an E and not as complicated as the CMP F/G due to the single flap per side setup the Emil had.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
I would agree at the new price , but originally esm sold under KMP sold at $449 , no way was it that much better , how at $300 , your good to go
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Most definitely agree with LDM. At the old "KMP" prices...the ESM planes were too expensive. Regardless of that, I did buy my first ESM ME-109E when sold by KMP at the $500 price range as well as the ME-110 and the B-25 at their ridiculously higher prices. Now....at the $300 price point, they seem to be selling a lot more quantity and ESM is listening to the feedback some. The tail wheel area was completely redesigned on the ME-109...basically ESM followed the hatch design that CMP used at that location. Previously....there was NO hatch and u basically drilled a hole thru the bottom and screwed a metal plate on the outside of the fuse. Of course...I also remember the internal wood block back there that was SUPPOSED to be used to drill the screws into also fell out from lack of glue and there was no way to get it glued back in place....since no hatch.
Glad they improved that area a lot. Anyhow...the CMP plane is a nice plane. It goes together relatively well, but yea some fit and finish problems which the builder may have to contend with....more or less like most arf's. BTW....all four flap servos are run by a matchbox on mine. the upper radiator flap sections as I mentioned previouslly have their own servos on a different switch. |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
kahlog good to see you on RCU .
I am not sure what to start next my CMP P40 , KMP corsair or CMP BF 109 lol , plenty to do over the winter . I have to order an interior kit from TY on the BF109 , the spinner that Ty made is fantastic |

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Need help in locating a set of retracts. It appears that all the major vendors are out of stock. Are there any alternatives. This is the last item I need to get airborne.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Im using Sierra Giant gear that was made specifically for the CMP me-109. Have u contacted Darrel?
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
I contacted Sierra last week and they informed me it would take about three weeks for delivery. Since I posted this inquiry I ordered a set of 700 series Spring Air. Thank you for the responce.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Need recommendations on flight control throws. Should I adhere to those listed in the instruction manual? The model should weight between 15-16lbs dry. I'm powering it with an OS 1.6 glow. Presently I'm waiting on a set of retracts from "Spring Air". This is the last item I need to make the crate airworthy.
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Mine weighs 16.5 pounds WITH batteries. If yours is 15 pounds dry......Im surprised to see a fuel powered one weigh this much.
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
The numbers I quoted are pure "WAG" on my part. I have not weigh it yet. Do you have any reccomendations on control throws?

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Im using a JR9303 2.4 I set the ailerons to 40% for low rates and that worked well. I had originally had it at 50%, but seemed a little much. Elevator is 50% and rudder is 75% low rates. I dont switch to high rates for anything except maybe the rudder when taxing.
Flaps, I set that at about 20% deflection on mid and 42% on full flaps. I cant tell you what the actual measurements are, sorry. BTW...Im also using 50% expo on all surfaces. |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Your settings and mine are very close. I also have a JR 9303 operating on "S PCM". Thank you for the information.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Has anybody had any experience with the spinner exploding?
Also you may be interested to know that in my kit the motor plate had been glued in upside down, giving left thrust!! not good huh?? |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Lots of people have experienced catastrophic spinner failures. Search this thread for "spinner" and you should get plenty of info.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
do you know of an after market alternative?

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Hi guys. Its mike from the uk.
My CM PRO 109 started out as an artf & has gone backwords from there!! I reworked the wing to suit special retracts we made for a similar size 109e we were doing as a kit a few years ago. The dihedral has been increased to the correct angle & a light weight scale tail wheel has been added in the correct position. I even repositioned the exhaust stubs in more or less the right poition & changed the shape of the wing fairing to suit theF / G model. Rudder is now a closed loop system using DACRON fishing line & a more substantial but lighter elevator push rod system has been added. As I'M fiting a 180 f/s i didnt fancy the original system at all! Oh yes, I also changed the cockpit to look more scale with the flat panels in the fus. by the clear vision panels in the canopy. AND a new canopy!! TY is going to supply a new spinner as the reports on the plastic one scares me to hell! Apart from that its exactly as it came out of the box http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif (did I mention the motor plate had been glued in upside down at the factory giving left thrust ? http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../msn/48_48.gif Another mod. !!) I cant decide on a paint job yet. any ideas? |
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
sounds like a great bash , post some pics please
|
RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
maybe I went a bit OTT but I'm a bit of a 109 nut, having built quite a few over the years.
Oh what the hell! http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...eeth_smile.gif |
