Have any of you guys had problems with the engine mount fixing on this 109?
The mounting plate seems a bit thin. I had to reverse mine 'cos it was fitted the wrong way round.

The "anti vibration mount" supplied fits my ASP 180 exactly but the whole set up seems a bit weeny.

I'm Tempted to fit a false bulkhead & use a goldberg anti vib. engine mount in its place.

I'm putting a good deal of time & effort into rebuilding this thing & the last thing iwant is engines coming loose

Ty has sent me one of his spinners so at least it shold not explode like the plastic ones are supposed to do.

Any comments about the mount please guys

Hi

I tossed the original mounts and bolted my OS 108 to 2 aluminum plates through the plywood instead of directly to the plywood mount. Spreads the load.

Does anyone know if an O.S. 200 would fit on this plane? I can get a great deal on one from a local club member but I'm concerned about whether it would fit or not. I know it would be grossly overpowering this plane, but I could swing a nice scale three blade prop.

I just answered my own question. :) It looks like the mounting dimensions are the same as an OS120, so it will definitely fit. I think I'm going to go for it. :D

Yes,

I have an O.S. FS200S-P Ring #80R Carburetor (with pump) installed in my CMP Bf-109 (see photos). I ended up adding a 90 degree coupler and a muffler pipe (light weight heat resistant) to move the muffler inside the cowl. See attached photos. Good luck with yours!

I bought the coupler from Tower Hobbies - it is made for that engine. I bought two and used a regular flex pipe normally used for tuned pipes. I still need to break in the engine. I've had it running with that configuration and I've had no problems. I did have to tear out the original engine mount and make my own using hardwood and plywood. I also moved the throttle servo back behind the firewall.

My problem is I have a full time job and too many hobbies! I also need to complete an F-117 EDF jet that has retracts - really cool! And Sunday I'm buying a Tamiya 1/16 Tiger 1 tank for only 4100! I have an extra Spread Spetrum receiver I can use with my programmable TX.

That's a great deal on the tank! I bet you'll have a good time with it.

Did the engine not even come close to fitting in the mount or did you elect to make a new mount for robustness?

The engine fit with the original mount - but I decided to beef up the mount. I did not like the original mount on this plane. Of course, if you are going electric - it is probably fine.

Had a typo in my original post - bought the tank for $400 not $100 - still a great bargin - considering a new Tiger Tank with everything goes for $800 to $900 or so!

What kind of maintenance crew is sitting on the Bf-109 wing? I don't recall seeing gals like her in my history books! Wow - your pilot must have all the fun!

Im shoehorning an ASP 180 in mine & I dont like the mount at all

As I said I am thinking about fitting A new firewall with an alluminium antivibration mount.

What do you think?

Side note:
I see we have much of the same taste. I to have the CMP 109, Graupner He 111, the KMP 109, the Flyboy 163 and the Graupner 190D.
My 190 is still NIB, what engine are you using with that and how does she fly ?
Also My He111 is elecric, what engines do you have in yours ?

Hi, I've been skimming over this thread but couldn't get through all 65 pages so I apologize if my question has already been asked.  Will this CMP BF-109 fly good with a 1.20 four stroke or is that too small?

I have a Saito 1.20 in my CMP Hellcat, which is quite a bit smaller and lighter than the 109. It powers the Hellcat OK, but would be a bit weak in the 109. I would guess that it will fly scale, but you will have limited vertical and not much reserve power. On a good note the 109 is not tail heavy, so you could mount a 1.20 without huge amounts of nose weight.

My much modified 109 has an ASP 180 as the mill.the fuselage is waiting a paint job (sprayed acrylic), the wings need re covering/painting due to the new retracts.
With the radio in place its comming out well nose heavy which is a nice suprise.
One of Tys spinner back plates also helps

Now I could only come up with a paint job!!

I have an old Saito 150fs in mine. At my altitude (5380) the 109 could use more thump (a 180fs would probably be perfect) but flys just fine. I'd think you'd be in a simlar situation at sea level with a 120...I guess it boils down to how fast i fast enough!

I'm at around 1300 ft. here in the Ozarks so maybe a 1.40 or 1.60? Is a 1.80 too large for the cowl? I'm an electric guy so I don't want to have to cut huge holes in the cowl if I can avoid it.

Here's what mine looks like with the 150. A 1.80 would be sweet but would probably need some mods to the flimsy mounts. The 1.60 should fit with no problem and give you plenty of zip.

My graupner 190 d9 has a rimfire .55 running on 6s 5000 spinning a 14x9x3. She flies quite well. Decent speed. Glides well too.
The HE-111 has two turnigy 910kv motors on 4s 5000 using 9x7x3 mas props. Generally fly it at half throttle

Hi again guys

I dont know if you might be interested in a few pics of my much modified 109, still very much work in progress.

Ignore the paint scheme, its just a colour pallet at the moment

The plane has increased dihedral to make it more scale. a more scale tail wheel, covers over the exhaust stubs, a new set of retracts (ignore the wheels!)

I am fitting one of Ty's spinners &amp; have populated the cockpit with his panel &amp; gun site.

with all radio in its coming out nose heavy &amp; the 180 mill should haul it round okay.
