Thanks! That's what I was thinking too, but I needed a second opinion. It's so difficult to tell between the RLM's greens and grays.

I cant tell from any pics that I've seen here or on CMP's website, but are the Fin, Rudder, Stabs, & Elevators built-up,
or is it flat board? thanks.

the cmp me109 v-fin, rudder, h-fin, and E have symetrical shape to them. no slab stab here

thank you for your answer. how's the aftermarket support for this particular plane? IE full cockpits, gun hood, supercharger scoops, etc. I know William bros has some very nice Wheels with
tires. if there is I'll have to order one from CMP, and Bash the bejesus out of it. or mabey one of you fine gentleman have one for sale? thanks in advance.

Ty's Planes makes a full cockpit for the plane. He frequents this forum and has posted his cockpit kit in this thread. I'm putting one together now, and it goes together surprisingly fast. It looks good too. I don't know of anyone that has made a gun hood for the plane, but Ty supplies two resin guns with the cockpit kit.

There is a guy here selling alum spinners for this along with i think a canopy, and cockpit kit. Other than that you'll have to use your own talents to correct it and make it as nice as you want.

sweet deal thanks guys. couple more questions. is there a source for the paddle prop? and who has the most scale gear for it? (I know I'll have to mod it like
hell to get the gear in the correct location).

Ty Brown of Ty's models does all the aftermarket canopy, cockpit's, Spinners etc. if you google him you'll find his website.

You guy's have to stop posting on this thread!!

I haven't finished my Lancaster yet and I keep reading all the posts and looking at my kit waiting in the box for me:D

What type of three blade prop is everyone using? I've been using Master Airscrew 16 X 8 but I've read quite a few people state that they distort quite a bit under load and aren't as efficient as some of the other offerings. What about Graupner? Any other options out there for under $30/prop?

I really dont know what lump to put in my 109.

I bought an ASP 180 F/S, but even after going back to the distributer for a new crankshaft it still vibrates too much.

The only other small F/S I have is a Laser 150 but with the diameter of TY's spinner I dont know if there is going to be enough

blade showing.

I'm going to use the DLE20. pulls 9000 with a MAS 16x8-3. I'll try a zinger 18x8-3. if it pulls 7500
I'll be happy. should make this 109 fly with authority. not looking to acro or 3D it though lol. whats
the scale on this ship anyways? 1:5.5?

My calculations based on wingspan bring the scale to 1:5.4 but I have read the fuselage is a bit larger and not in proportion to the wings so I need to do some more digging myself unless someone has that information. Tero T in Toronto

any consideration on making the gun blisters "cheeks" on the fuse?

For props, the only reliable place is Solo. And they make fantastic blades and hubs. You pay for them, but they are worth every penny.
Having seen the one my friend has for his Hs123, I can say they are stellar. He has flight blades and display blades from them.

Someone was saying the dimensions are off on the CMP 109.

They are not.

The model's dimensions are:
wingspan: 72.83"
length: 65.67"

The real plane was:
wingspan: 390.55"
length: 351.97"

Wing Scale: .186
Length Scale: .186

So the dimensions put the plane at almost exactly a 1/5.37 scale bird.


Now as to the SHAPE of the bird... meh. Its OK. Better than the ESM Bf109E for sure however...

thanks for the info on the props/hub, & setting the record straight on the wings/fuse being true scale.
solo's round tip blades look fairly close to the "paddles". to bad the hub will be hidden under the spinner

Yes, I will sell a set. I make these from my mold. They are static display urethane resin props made from the same material as the Aero tech (or something) company.

I also make a flying carbon version of the exact same blade, but due to liability exposure, I don't sell them. The static prop arc is around 21" to 22" depending on how one mounts them. The off 3 white ones are exactly what you'll get

Lets see how much $ we can agree on that is reasonable.

tell you what, write me out an invoice for a couple pieces of balsa, then throw in 3-9" carbon fiber blades
as packing material ;)

Thanks for the Soloprops site. Somehow missed that one altogether. Attached is a pic of a shaft extension project I did in 1995 for a ST-3000 for a 1/5 scale ME-109 . This put the engine in a more scale configuration on the aircraft with the inverted ST3000 head in the chin cooling pan of the plane. I used another front bearing housing for the ST-3000 and had a housing machined to cover a flex coupling to which the engine was attached. There was a Bisson muffler dumping exhaust up (Via the green silicone pipe) to the main support beam which is hollow and then re-routed the exhaust to scale exhaust stacks on the plane. Anyhow to make a long story short my son was born and my hobby took a back seat for 15 years , sold the plane and engine into the U.S somewhere and thats that. But I do love the ME-109 and have two of the CMP's I am working on now . Tero T in Toronto

When I get to the point where I need the static prop I will contact you to make a purchase. Much appreciated. I had the Dave Platt static prop but sold with my engine contraption.. The 1/5 scale fiberglass kit I sold into the U.S was made by a very interesting designer in Finland . He only made a handfull but they were immaculate. Even the scale prop was functional and he molded them himself out of glass filled nylon. I traded him a yellow aircraft spitfire and shipped it to Finland to get his limited kit. Here is some pics of his fiberglass fuselage. Again if someone knows its whereabouts I would be interested in buying it back. Tero T

No problem, just lmk.

I like the center section molded into the fuse on that composite fuse. More scale like wing construction. That also lets one keep the gear on the fuse with the wings off.

I have a 2nd CMP 109 that I had been modifying (in this thread's early pages) to make a full epoxy (ours are cheap polyester) composite more scale version of this model.

I have set it aside right now but did manage to make a composite spinner, urethane exhaust ports, the props both static and flying ( flying one can be manually adjusted for pitch) a wheel hub for the "G" type larger gear, strut, and started working on a scale ribbed tire but did not finish the tire.

I'll get back to it after my Yellow edf F-16 and BVM F-16 turbine. I'm getting older and my reflexes are slowing a bit. Need to fly a turbine before its too late for me.
