Nice spinners. If you are able to produce them in small mass quantity I'm sure you won't have much difficulty in marketing them if you can hit a reasonable price point. $30.00-50.00 would seem to be the target.

I decided to make the ailerons "friese type II" as in the full scale.....huge hassel....might rethink that one, though they would add so much to the appearance and the manoeuverability of the finished plane....

Having the control horn on the top seems to be the biggest factor in creating the head ache as it requires a bottom hinge. If I could convince myself that sticking the horn on the bottom wouldn't be a big deal then I could use a simpletop hinge design and be done with it...oh well, back to the shop!

First two below would be easy. Third type looked easy enough...real world application is another story!![X(]

What diameter of the spinner do you need? This one has diameter about 1,5cm. When it will be done, I send you technical drawing. The other things will be up to you, becouse it would be expensive to send spinner to the USA.

Today I´ve done rivets on the wings and elevator. I did only upper parts, because I want to save some weight. Next time I should brush fuselage and prepare it for some rivets and also for new covering. I don´t make every rivets but only part of them. As I wrote it will be only semi-scale airplane. :eek:

Does anybody know what means the table in the last picture? This table is usually on the tail.

Today I´ve started with preparing airplane for new colours. Origin symbols and marking are made from some good colour, so I had to been forced used organic solvent to remove them. At the first time I thought that it would be easier to sharpen it, but It was mistake.

I have actually broken my own habit of not doing two in a row from the same country and, having finished the KI-61 Tony, have begun on the Zero. Truth be told; I'm enjoying the folks in this thread more than the current group in the build threads of my other options for the next project.

Anyway, Picked up a 1/5 pilot figure for flying to augment the display figure. Had the 1/6 to begin with but the 1/5 is actually closer to the right size.

I think I posted already that I determined to work out a proper Frese Aileron for this build and the mock-up seemed fairly straight forward...implementation was a pain. Now that I have one completed the next should be even that much easier. I wanted to do this aileron type for a couple of reasons; 1. a new building type mastered and 2. when looking at the 3-views and my full size enlargements it showed me that there is much less of the aileron visible in the top view than in the bottom. The only explanation is the "lip" overhanging on the top of a freise ail assy. I like the look and wanted to copy it.

Doing the proper aileron made the fact that the wingtip shape was not very good or true as well, so that also had to be corrected in order to get the rest of it to work out...had to shorten the flap by 5/8 (15mm) as well. All in all everything seems to line up well now with my full size(for the model) enlargements and I'm happy to be beginning my flaps a la "Walts' " posting, pg. 42.

If you click on the full size icon in the lower right of the wing schematic once you 1st enlarge it, it will get really big and you can see better the difference from top and bottom.

that aileron is the A6M3...............just so you know the A6M5 had the shorter ones because the folding wing tips..not 100% sure but 95%.lol because i made mine into the A6M3 and that is one of the things i changed

Good observation, Chickenhawk.

Each model though had varying sub types as well. As far as I can tell there were type 22's which had stubby tips, type 32's which had folding tips and the type 52 which had fixed tips...somewhere in there was a type 21 and a 43; don't know all the ins and outs of them[&:] Just that it's a fun plane to model

The docs I'm using are leading me where I am headed with this one. I may well be on the "primrose path" too, because there appears to be a great deal of conflicting docs and photos. I think there may have been a lot of non standardized production in the late war and mods on older A/C as well.

Here's the full 3-view I'm using, some others, and a pic of a museum piece that appears to be an A6M5 from looking at the exhuasts (M3's came out the bottom I think); it has the ailerons I'm attempting to depict. Also some artist renderings of the colors I'm planning. Something a bit different than the cream or solid green although it seems that this color scheme was mainly used over China and did not see much action around the islands or against US military.

Anyway, you are correct in that there were folding wingtip M5's that had clipped end ail's. And it may be that I end up with an M3 with M5 exhuasts or an M5 with M3 ailerons! LOL As long as it looks good and flies better I'll be happy.

Hello to everyone, i would like to ask for someone opinion of Yellow aircraft Zero landing gear. I have CMP Zero 80" <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"></font> and i'm now looking for gear setup. Found some from Yellow aircraft and did someone have any experience with that gear system? Any suggestion for this brand? Thanks !!!

Have only heard good words about the Yellow Aircraft planes and gear. Don't have any hands on experience though. Sierra giant scale makes a nice set as well but they are expensive.

What were you quoted on the Yellow gear?

I ended up modifying a set of Robarts after the method of "dionysusbacchus" back on page 37. He has a few posts on the method on that page and forward.

I have some scale covers for the wheels and the nuts are just on there as spacers/retainers for now.

I mean Yellow aircraft landing gear expecialy for Zero. I have one opinion from one rcu member and he tell all the best for them. I receved from him some pictures of landing gear for his Zero and looks really solid and scale too !!! Any other expiriance are welcome !!! Thanks Geo for photos.

I was actually wondering if you had a price or cost for the Zero gear from Yellow. I saw these pictures also and the size seems it would work for the 72'' Zero quite well. Was thinking about checking into them because they do look so good and if the price was reasonable I wouldn't have to bend and modify the second gear leg!:D

I think the Yellow gear set closes away from the cylinder so in the extended picture it looks funny. It looks right in the retracted pic[&:]

On Yellow aircraft web site they don't provide any info about pirce, but there is a phone number so you can use to call them. Actually i also want to know price for this set of landing gear :D

Does anybody have experience with the retract for La- 7 from ESM model? I have it, but I don´t know which pressure is necessary for this retract, because it was without any iformation or manual.

I´ve just started with the painting. I wanted to highlight the rivets and plateful so I covered by black before the grey. It was advice of my friend who makes plastic kits.

Today I added some rivets on the fuselage.

Last night I was driving on the highway, left most of three lanes, in a Ford Explorer and we were all moving at about 80mph/130kph in moderate traffic. The guy beside me, in a Honda Pilot SUV, slowly veered into my lane nearly forcing me into the center dividing barrier wall, as I braked and looked over I saw he was busily playing with his palm pilot/blackberry/iphone/whateveras he recentered in his center lane. I ended up next to him again a minute later, looked over and he is now busily using both hands on his device, scrolling all over/paging through texts or something as he began to wander into my lane again, I honked my horn and as his brightly lit face turned toward me I threw my right hand up, fingers splayed out as in "***?!?!?" (It was dark outside) He promptly gave me the universal sign and merrily went about his business. Less than 1 minute later traffic abruptly slowed to 60mph/95Kph...he was just ahead of me still in the center, me on the left. The big tractor trailer/lorry in front of him probably slowed to 55mph/88Kph, the texty guy's brake lights never even flickered as ate up the 30yards/40meters between him and the truck, plowing into the back of it at 80 or so. Impact speed was probably about 25-30mph/30-40Kph differential still going 50-60 overall. Luckily he stayed straight and so did the truck and I zipped past on the left untouched. WOW!!

25 minutes later I had concluded my business and was returning in the opposite direction down the same road. As I passed the scene I was able to see across the chest high barrier wall at the havoc he he wreaked....

3 tractor trailer rigs, 9 automobiles, two ambulances, a fire truck, two other type traffic emergency/clean up vehicles and 6 police cars all on the side of the road. Traffic in that direction was stopped and there were guys in the middle of the road sweeping up debris.

Think about it folks; when you're on the road, it's not just about you. If things had been just a bit different this guy could have orphaned my kids and widowed my wife(not to mention my zero would never be finished!) Luckily the news reported no fatalities and only three people taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

I still feel the need to use the phone for my business while on the road, but only to give a brief response...anything more and I call back when I'm in a better situation. So I guess that puts me in a lesser, but similar situation as well...may need to re-evalute that as well.

A couple months ago, The neighbor behind me had a head on with a lady at the corner 100 yards from my house,, he was stopped to make the left,, she plowed right into him @ about 45-50 totalling both cars,, she was texting, never got on the brakes... Thank God for airbags

Texting is the worse invention man ever came up with IMO

Prekin, I have a set of LA-7 retracts on my Zero. They will work two compete cycles on the tank supplied at 90PSI. I did replace all the lines and fittings with Robart. So far these have good

only 2 cycles?? you need a bigger air tank then,,, I wouldn't be comfortable taking a plane up that didn't get 6-7 cycles at least..

Most air systems will take well over 100psi,, that is always my target pressure to start with
