I built a Spadette LC-40 and had serious aileron flutter. Inserted two or three skewers in the outside TE. Still fluttering. Inserted two or three more. Had skewers in all flutes on theoutside TE. Still fluttering. Pulling my hair out at this point because when she fluttered, she also made a hard left turn. That was very bad for me as I had just soloed. Think about that hard left turn for a beginner. Now I trimmed off 1/2" all the way across the TE. Still fluttering. Man what to do now? Take the ailerons off and fly with rudder? Then I remembered reading a post months ago that suggested a fix that could be done at the field if you had a sharp knife. What do you know that fixed the problem. I can now come out of a steep dive to 10 feet off the deck at full throttle. What a thrill doing this with no problems. Full throttle loops, immermans, rolls, snaps and cuban eights. Now this is learning to fly. Oh I might better mention what the solution was. I marked an angle on the outside trailing edge of the both ailerons and cut it back from the original 2" to 5". Problem solved.
Hope this helps you and/or someone else building these spads.

stumblebum(2),
Did you cut out some of the coro that acted like the aileron hinge? That has helped me in the past. Ihave gone away from using coro ailerons and Iuse wood trailing edge for ailerons. Istill use coro for the elevator though.Chris

Yes batchelc,
I did that on my original build. Remember reading about it somewhere that it wood make the hinge more flexible. There were three 1 inch slots in the top skin across the width of the control hinge. For some reason my weight was a little high. Build was supposed to be around 5lb 10 oz. My spadette weighed in at a whopping 6lb 10 oz. Took forever to get off the ground but would fly at less than half throttle. Put a Fox 45 on it today. Trying it out Sunday to see what the change will do. Would do it Saturday but I live 40 miles from the flying field.
