that will be a great engine for that plane and to run in silver. i would run a 13x11 on 20% nitro and it would be right on the number

David, How many alias names you have on RCU.? I thought you were KAZERACING? or something like that? Ddnt you get one of Shawns Macchis? Or was that David Lloyd form my Q40 friends area? Too many David Lloyds

You will be a great Silver racer young man and that combo wll break out easly. Glad to see sticking with racing. I missed you all at Rabbit last year. You guys are some of my favorite people to hang out with - NO drama.

I was at a race in Victorville one time and there were 3 David Lloyds at that race. Thats almost as bad as 2 Jim Smiths

Just Kidding Skids.
We need more guys like you, just in silver or bronze though

Does that mean you will have the new prototype JR radio with really big buttons?

We can outline your pilot station with blue paint and make it easy access.

1) Thanks Marty, I wouldn't ever give up airracing ever! 2) Three of us David Lloyds LOL tell me about it! , if that's not bad enough I heard about a FOURTH David Lloyd that flies scale that we haven't met as of yet! 3) I've only have 1 alias Racer44dd because I love racing and 44dd was my race # on the seagull Nemesis before that midair. 4) Yeah I was bumbed about not having a bird for Rabbit last Oct. too. And 5) Still can't wait for the Warbird Champ Race!

I like seeing actual warbirds, too, Dan. That is one aspect I miss with since the demise of SWRA - not having scale judging anymore.

It kills me not to be able to sport any of my trusty P-39s right now (I am "Iron Dog", after all!) - these were always done in WWII markings.

For what it is worth, I am currently working on 3 P-47s, approximately 1/10th scale. Each will have an authentic WWII color scheme and nose art. (Although I may take some liberties with adding invasion stripes to one or two that I do not possess documentation proving each necessarily displayed these additional markings at some point in their service career, to better increase visibility and contrast in overcast conditions.) I have all three of the wings built, two wood fuses framed up, a third composite fuse layed-up and pulled from the mold, all the tail feathers fabricated - ready to mount, and have finished making my own decal sheets. However, the last cowl I made was not usable. I have pulled too many cowls over the last ten years for myself, my father-in-law, Dave S., and a couple other racers, that the mold surface has worn-out and has deteriorated to a point that it is no longer viable. So, am delayed by needing to lay-up a new production mold from my plug first, before I can begin laying-up new cowls. I also still need to pull additional canopies.

With the unexpected delay in cowl production, I will likely have to rely on my winning Fw190-D9, and my o-l-d banged-up P-47 as a back-up, for the first race in April. Then, should be able to introduce the new P-47s at following races as I have sufficient time to finish them up, and log sufficient practice time with them.

Thanks Iron Dog. I miss the SWRA days as well. Long a tiring but worth it in the end. Good luck with your new Warbirds. Wish I still had your ambition to build. The desire is there, just don't have a shop worthy of the task. Thanks again and hope to meet up with you some day.

Your probably right speed. I'm not questioning rules, just got to thinking about what it would be like as a spectator to come out to his/her first Warbird Race (WWII TYPES) and not see any.
Guess that's why we have a Bronze class.

I hear ya. Most would struggle to identify some of the airplanes out there. IMAC has some actual guidelines ( 10% outline deviation allowed ) yet the airplanes end up all looking alike. Competitors will always stretch the rules as far as they can.

Jeff, if you measure my Macchi design and compare with what is available online for the span and length of the full scale you will find it is 1/5 scale within 5%.

I love this thread! I check it every day, It has a fresh smell.......Like a brand new garden. Let me add to the scent if I may. Gee, I wish I could run the 1:25 index with only 20% fuel. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha .....I have to run 65% to run Silver with our slow tired KI-61s.
Looking forward to racing Marty and Richard and the rest in the Platium class. Although I will surely trail by a couple of laps I will still give it the old college try.

Well Dave, Something tells me you will be right up front there Dave giving us something to chase and try and catch. The ole' money shot can hold its own with you driving it, so Im guessing you were being a bit sarcastic.
Just make sure you have planes left for the champ race in Nov. It wouldnt be the same w/o you. We need as many red shirts with a 28X as possible.

Good seeing you in Ontario friend!!
