I'm using a Nexstar wing now on my Alpha Trainer since I had a crash and the old one is busted. the old wing had a Chord of 11 1/4 " and the Nexstar one is 10.5". the C of G point on each wing is different. the Nexstar wing is placed in the middle of the old wing seat. I'm confused as to how the narrower Chord will affect the position of the C of G. Would I consider it to be a point on the fuse which dosen't change regardless of the wing dimensions? Is it more a point on the wing partly determined by the width of the Chord? I just want the plane well balanced so it's easier for me to control.

Matt,You go by the wing for the CG,not the fuse,,,The CG for the Nextar wing should be around 2.625 from the leading edge.A good rule of thumb on these planes is that the CG is normally located on the main spar of the wing, give that a whirl. That is a high wing trainer,if you change something drastic you will have your hands full, but you are not, balance that plane on the main spar of the Nextar wing and you will be good to go.Happy Flying,,,,,,,,Slade

matte, its the wing, not the fuse that determines the cg. and for the purists, the elevator also can enter into the CG determination. the following site has the formulas for determining either the CG or MAC for any wing configuration.
