Bad idea...that would take away one of the strong points of
this plane and that is its ruggedness. Plus the airframe
would not benefit at all from the weight savings which is
what I assume you are...

I took the easy way out on the fillets on my scratch built US60...
I painted them. I used Lustrekote and it matched up with the
Monokote used on the fuse very well...

Thanks...its a terrific flyer. 126 flights on it and counting.
The old 61 SF got an overhaul over the winter with a
new Frank Bowman ring. Still breaking in but its got
some of that old zip...

I have to agree with MinnFlyer...Mine had a Thunder Tiger 46 Pro
on it and it was all the power it needed. I put hundreds of flights
on that plane/engine combo.

The article is in the Feb 2007 Model Aviation. Wasnt really all that helpful.
Most of us went with the "hole in the fuse" approach to attaching the wing.

My NJ now has an old OS 40 SF on it...

The Midstar is a terrific plane. It was my first kit and the first
plane I soloed. I put many hundreds of flights on it and passed
it on down to a younger flyer in our club and its still flying....

I like them as well. I have them in most of my planes.
Its just the Sullivan RST seems to fit better on this.
I see by the picture you posted you turned the tank
on its side. Thats what I did...

You can use the Dubro tank but because of their shape (wider than tall)
they work best mounted on their side on a profile. I had a Dubro tank

Model Aviation. I didnt find the article all that helpful since I made
a number of changes to fit the available materials...

All of us went with built up wings. The wing is so simple and has
such a low parts count that the foam wing doesnt make too much sense.
The built up wing is light and strong.

No sheeting...

You would be disappointed. One of our club members had one running
a Supertiger G90. While it flew well it was definitely underpowered.
I would forget the 90 and consider this a 120 size plane.
