Looks great. I bet it will fly great as well...

Any idea on the weight? Mine comes in right
at 5 pounds.

Ckangaroo70 also used that fiberglass gear on his.
I used a hunk of hardware store...

RE: sig Mid Star 40 build question...

Bad idea...that would take away one of the strong points of
this plane and that is its ruggedness. Plus the airframe
would not benefit at all from the weight savings which is
what I assume you are...

RE: Ringed or ABC

I think you're asking the wrong question. Neither one is really "better".
I think the question you should be asking is which of the two
engines you listed is most appropriate for the plane you...

RE: getting ready to start my first kit Sig Mid Star...a few questions...

I had a Dubro 10 oz tank in my Midstar. Plenty of room
and easy access due to the hatch.

Its been a long time since I built mine but it seems I lowered
the tank floor just a bit to...

RE: Ultra Sport 60 build

I took the easy way out on the fillets on my scratch built US60...
I painted them. I used Lustrekote and it matched up with the
Monokote used on the fuse very well...

RE: getting ready to start my first kit Sig Mid Star...a few questions...

Thanks...its a terrific flyer. 126 flights on it and counting.
The old 61 SF got an overhaul over the winter with a
new Frank Bowman ring. Still breaking in but its got
some of that old zip...

RE: getting ready to start my first kit Sig Mid Star...a few questions...

I have to agree with MinnFlyer...Mine had a Thunder Tiger 46 Pro
on it and it was all the power it needed. I put hundreds of flights
on that plane/engine combo.

Ive passed my old Midstar...

RE: NJ One Design

The article is in the Feb 2007 Model Aviation. Wasnt really all that helpful.
Most of us went with the "hole in the fuse" approach to attaching the wing.

My NJ now has an old OS 40 SF on it...

RE: getting ready to start my first kit Sig Mid Star...a few questions...

The Midstar is a terrific plane. It was my first kit and the first
plane I soloed. I put many hundreds of flights on it and passed
it on down to a younger flyer in our club and its still flying....

RE: NJ One Design

I like them as well. I have them in most of my planes.
Its just the Sullivan RST seems to fit better on this.
I see by the picture you posted you turned the tank
on its side. Thats what I did...

RE: NJ One Design

You can use the Dubro tank but because of their shape (wider than tall)
they work best mounted on their side on a profile. I had a Dubro tank
on mine originally but really didnt like the way it...

Mine is the lightest of the bunch. A little under 4 pounds. I checked everything
for balance as I was building and did everything I could to avoid adding
any lead weight to it.

I managed to...

RE: NJ One Design

All of us went with built up wings. The wing is so simple and has
such a low parts count that the foam wing doesnt make too much sense.
The built up wing is light and strong.

No sheeting...

club as ckangaroo70 and 7 or 8 club members now have built
them. We have been flying them in our club pylon races.
In fact I...

RE: Super Sportster 90/120

You would be disappointed. One of our club members had one running
a Supertiger G90. While it flew well it was definitely underpowered.
I would forget the 90 and consider this a 120 size plane.

of any problems.
