RE: big mig .25 for flite streak?

Yep, you can see from the attached pix with the original note, that bolt's snapped off in there. I'll bet the original owner over-tightened it, piled it into something, and it broke. And it musta...

RE: big mig .25 for flite streak?

Kool. Thanx, for those part #'s, Andrew. And buying both at once will kinda take the sting out of SIG's 7-buck S%H fees.

RE: big mig .25 for flite streak?

Thanx, Andrew, for the tip--and for the actual pic. Did find this article at SIG--though it didn't come with your handy pic, so I wouldn't have known it included the the nut--or maybe it doesn't?

RE: big mig .25 for flite streak?

Yeah, turns out is is a big mig.

Got this guy as-is, and I'm wondering if this is a serious or minor prob. You can see, from the attached snap, that there's something broken off, where the...

RE: FLITE STREAK arrived today

This is such kool advice. And it really took me back. About the same time as you, I was getting into flying--only with .049's. I remember I was so hot to fly, I usually took off (and crashed)...

RE: big mig .25 for flite streak?

Kool! I'm so anti-RC, never realized a throttle/carb setup might be JUST the ticket, if the engine's too strong for the plane/pilot.

Scored two engines last nite; a K&B .20 Sportster, and a...

RE: big mig .25 for flite streak?

Thanx, Lee, for the assurance.

Wondering, too, if I should shoot for a strictly CL engine, or can I get away with trying a throttled RC engine. cobbled wide-open?

(Much prefer the...

big mig .25 for flite streak?

Just wondering if this might be a tad too much engine for this plane. (All the other Norvels I have are absolutely dynamite engines, putting out power equivalent to way larger engines).

I...

FLITE STREAK arrived today

Always wanted one of these ships and finally scored one.

The instruction manual is fabulous--but I was just wondering if any of you vets had any tips or advice for building/flying this...

RE: flyQuiet mufflers--worth it?

Woops, sorry. (Thought everybody knew about these).

http://www.flyquiet.com/products.html#norvelquiet

And my preferred site for flying is the site of the original Eugene Airport, back in...

flyQuiet mufflers--worth it?

Any of y'all ever tried these?

They seem a smidge spendy, with shipping--but I've been kinda pushing my luck at the local schoolyard, with homes only a few hundred yards away.

And they...

RE: smallest prop for an enya .09?

Yeah, this was my first engine that I added castor to the fuel. And I'm breaking it on on a hybrid of half 10% and half 30% nitro, by volume, which should translate to 20%.

(Come to find out,...

smallest prop for an enya .09?

This engine isn't really peaking like I'm used to, and it's looking like more of a sport engine than a real combat motor.

I'm breaking it in with a 7 x 3, but I'm wondering if I can reduce my...

RE: fascal

Thanx, KD. Took your advice and wrote him, and he's already responded enthusiastically. Though he doesn't sell FasCal, he has something he claims is even better, called SLC.

Good hookup. ...

RE: fascal

It's a heat-shrinking clear mylar with a strong adhesive backing--about a thousand times better than monokote. It's an Avery product; best thing I've ever found for wing coating.

Used to get...

fascal

Where do y'all get your fascal, for wing coating?

Used to be able to get this at the LHS, but now it's all monokite. Bla . . .

Thanx,
M

RE: engine mystery

CL, so it'll be flat out all the time. (Took a piece of SS wire and cobbled the throttle full open. Rube Goldburg would be proud).

Thanx, Denis, for the encouraging details.

Been breaking it in on a gravity tank, and it seems to run pretty well--although, as mentioned earlier in this thread, it doesn't wanna run unless I...

RE: tornado prop query

Just read a kool observation, from another list, that, when running a push prop in reverse, the torque tends to make the plane roll to the outside, which, in the event of line slack, will tend to...

Ha! This is too neat. I'd been thinking y'all meant the "glowplug," but or course, you said the "glowhead." Never imagined you could thread an .049 head onto a norvel! Gonna try it when I finish...

RE: engine mystery

Figured. And I liked meow's suggestion, of substituting a Cox glowhead--although I was ignorant that Cox made glowheads for Norvel engines. Just assumed I'd have to get a Norvel glowhead. This is...
