RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

I have tried both tank positions with the Saito .82 and have found no noticable differences in engine performance, but the plane will fly considerable better with the tank mounted in the designed...

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Rubberbands are fine Wagen. You can use a zip tie too and cut it with pliers after you are done flying. If you use a zip tie, make sure it is tight so it will not slip off. Not a lot is necessary as...

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Thanks for your reply Cody, I thought most comments would be made on thrust. Can you explain to me the reasoning behind the CG move? I would like to learn the in's and out's of trimming and this one...

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Joey,

I got a 91AC sitting at home too but opted to go for a smaller engine (Saito .82). This is a very lightly built plane, I think you will get better results with a lighter engine (and your...

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

I had a hard landing on a deadstick and had the landing gear plate crack, but the landing gear, pants and wheels are holding up really well.

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

There is a lot of space to mount the tank up front. You could put it all the way forward (just behind the firewall) if you are able to install a tray so it can sit over the throttle servo.

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Good call Jimnie, I tried your suggestion last night and I can now confirm only the fuse has the problem. The gap with the left wing panel upside down measured the same than the right wing panels gap.

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Thanks for the tip Jimnie, I had not thought of doing that. I still have not sent back the parts so I will try it tonight. I think the problem is the fuse, I measured the wind tube to various places...

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Well Mike, you were absolutely correct about Fliton. Not only is this an excellent looking plane (and quality constructed even though I had a bad batch, you cannot hide imperfections with clear...

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Thanks for all of your input. The wing is not pushed all the way in, it is set so the edge of the rib is just in line with the wing socket in the fuse. It has the depth of the socket remaining to go...

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Here are a couple of pics. Please note that the wing is not pushed into the wing socket completly, it was purposely set flush with the socket at the leading edge for illustrative purposes. Please not...

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Well, I called Fliton and they have a pretty good customer service. I was told that this problem may be due to some warping in the first rib or the fuse socket. I cam going to check it out as sonn as...

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

I do ok with YS, but I just do not want to do any tinkering and deal with special fuels. Id rather go with an engine which is happier with most fuels you put in it, plus it is a bit lighter...:D

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Well, a Saito .82 + a Cline = A bit over $310 and a YS .63 (pump included) is about $250. I am looking for the most powerfull option, but still reliable one. What do you think?

RE: Official RCU Fliton Inspire 60 build thread!

Thinking about an engine for this plane. Where is the tank located? Is it at the CG? If so, fo you think it is far enough for a 4 stroke to need a pump?

RE: Saito 82 vs YS 63?

I have exactly the same question. I am wondering what to put in an Inspire 60. I want the plane to get started on 3D flying, but not sure which engine will pull it better. Anyone have any suggestions?
