RE: HELP WITH ST. CROIX/CRESSLINE LONG EZ KIT

I worked on the Long EZ a little bit over the Thanksgiving holiday week. Once upon a time, I somehow stepped on my upper rear cowl and put a huge crease in it. This sealed the deal for me and meant...

RE: HELP WITH ST. CROIX/CRESSLINE LONG EZ KIT

Apologies, I checked my tank and the "stock" size by the plans is 6oz, but I bought an 8oz tank. It's a tight fit though that wouldn't leave much room for anti-vibration foam, so I was actually...

RE: HELP WITH ST. CROIX/CRESSLINE LONG EZ KIT

Here are a few more images for you guys. I included a few that show the winglet attachment in progress, the engine mounting method (for you guys thinking of electric conversions), a blurry shot to...

RE: HELP WITH ST. CROIX/CRESSLINE LONG EZ KIT

I actually have the same kit and recently pulled it back out from an ~8 year hiatus hiding partially assembled in the box. It is interesting to read folks commenting about the tail heavy condition. ...

RE: Tiger 60 Build Thread

Okay I'm done with mine!

I found this thread mid march and decided to order a Tiger 2 that evening. I just flew mine again today ... so far all but the fifth flight have been deadsticks, but I...

RE: Giant Big Stik Camera Platform

Hi Bill,

It looked like you had some rubber lord mounts or something from this photo:

I'm looking at how to soft-mount the...

RE: Giant Big Stik Camera Platform

Hi wjglynn,

I have a large aircraft I'm outfitting for AP duty as well, but I'm having serious vibration issues with a new Fuji 45 ... can you take a closeup of your anti-vibration mounting and...

RE: thermal sniffer

Dragging back this old thread, I am curious to hear updates from both manufacturers. Surely things have changed, (including how competing companies treat each other). Also, are any other variometer...

RE: Engine pod idea for a 4m?

Hey, thanks for the compliments :-)

Yeah, landings are a bit rough, but I'll pass it off all in good humor. Still learning enegry management with such a large airplane.

Since I'm sharing...

RE: Engine pod idea for a 4m?

Agreed, wasn't planning on anything close to the ordinary. I have been accused of flying like a grandmother, in giant boring circles, so that style of flying conservatively is not new to me :-)

RE: Engine pod idea for a 4m?

Mike,

Yeah, pod is almost done. I tossed the tank way down in the fuselage for no real reason other than there was room. I do plan to test run the engine to see if it has enough draw to make...

RE: Engine pod idea for a 4m?

Hey again Mike,

The Variant is so old, I don't know who made it. It's from 1987, if I am not mistaken, and was given to me as a gift. The previous pilot was just going to hang it from his...

Thanks for the picture Mike! That is super super useful and I really appreciate that!

Engine pod idea for a 4m?

So I have an old Variant 4m floater hanging from my ceiling with no winch or hi-start to get her up. I imagine an engine pod would work to get her up to altitude so I can fly at less-than-huge...

RE: Senior Telemaster spar strengthening?

Thanks for the input Bruce! I definitely think an i-beam shear web is easy enough to build and the carbon spar caps are also high on the list of priorities. What do you think about a D-Tube style...

RE: large, light, strong, and easy as a trainer to fly

Claude

Just what I wanted to hear! What modifications have you done to the plane to have this extra payload capacity? I assue a spar modification was done to strengthen the wing, yes? Do you...

Senior Telemaster spar strengthening?

I have a Senior Telemaster that will be carrying a 4-7 pound payload and being pulled by a OS .91FX engine. Others have put GS-23's on the Senior Telemaster and I am interested if the wing spar...

RE: large, light, strong, and easy as a trainer to fly

Thanks for the input guys!

Darrin: I have nothing against canards, just they aren't a good mix with our short field and expected payload. We currently have a canard (we being the NCSU Aerial...

large, light, strong, and easy as a trainer to fly

I have a Micropilot autopilot to make a UAV. I need airplane ideas. It should use a Saito 1.80, be easy to build (ARF's too expensive), and fly easy as a dream. Hoping somebody can help me peg an...
