RE: Tell me it 'taint so - linking to 7ch & 8ch RX's

Well, it is so, and Futaba's been up front about it all along. Here's a link to their website, the second chart shows the transmitter/module/receiver compatibility, where it shows the TM-8 module...

RE: Futaba 608FS reciever locout/failure due to heat

Since the original poster said it consistently shuts down within a minute, I'd like to see a video of it, with both the Tx and Rx in view, and a thermometer showing the temp climbing prior to...

RE: Futaba 608FS reciever locout/failure due to heat

Exactly how was the receiver mentioned in the beginning of this thread mounted? Was it wrapped in foam? Was it sitting in the sun under the canopy?

RE: Beauty Contest

True, they don't appear to shut down when they get hot, but judging by the number of threads regarding crashes with 2.4Ghz radios, they seem to shut down for unknown reasons more than the Futaba ones...

RE: 10C date moves back, update*******

A year? I thought they announced that they were going to be coming out with them at the Toledo show last year (April 07), and saw people flying them in January and February. Did our calendars...

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

Julez,

I won't discount that the receiver produces some of its own heat. I also won't discount that wrapping it in foam can increase the heat produced from the receiver itself. However, I do...

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

We may have gotten to the bottom of something....

Spektrum. Several people crashed due to low-voltage "brown outs". People have had to change the way that look at powering their radios to keep...

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

You never know. Being on the sides of the fuse, away from most of the direct sunlight, it may be ok, even with a FASST receiver. Why don't you go to Phoenix and sit your airplane in the sun for a...

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

Two things I see from that link on the crash in AZ.

1. Again...as stated in that post, the receiver was directly under a clear canopy on an IMAC airplan. That's one hell of a bit of tourture. ...

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

I think there's a language/terminolgy barrier here. Yes, it has been said that if a chip increased 5C over ambient, and the ambient was 60C, that the chip would then be at 65C. Nowhere did anybody...

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

Who said anything about 65C being safe? Lets be honest with ourselves. Futaba's not the first company to use parts that are limited to 60C. It's already been shown that Hitech and Weatronic have...

RE: Frame loss without fadres?

So if it has "erroneous data", what's the point of having the data logger?

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

Much like the Futaba's that have quit due to being too hot. Each of the ones that's done it has been on the ground, prior to flight. None have been reported to have crashed due to this issue, so...

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

But it would have to be working before it can warm itself up. ;)

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

"allegedly" just means you're going by what you've heard and don't truely know yourself. So you yourself have yet to show any "facts" regarding the Spektrums, or any others.

The heat generated...

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

I'd be willing to bet that there are receivers from other manufacturers that have chips with similar specs. Anybody want to prove me wrong?

RE: Futaba 6014 receiver heat issue

Ok. Let me get this straight. Futaba appears to have an issue that's come up with giant scale 3D airplanes. The issue seems to have only come up with those in AZ, as the seasonal temperature went...
