RE: Old trainer rebuild story

RE: Old trainer rebuild story

When I did my LT-40, I used the rudder servo. I used a long arm on the servo, and hooked up the rudder and the tailwheel to it. If I can remember correctly, I think they were hooked up to the same...

RE: Old trainer rebuild story

This was my old LT-40. I got it for a $25 Dairy Queen gift certificate. It had ran out of battery before it ran out of fuel. It was my first repair, rebuild. I built a bunch of new wood parts for...

RE: GP Ultimate 40S bipe full build kit help

Hi Mike, I'm just a bit further along on my build. Here's some insight.

#1 Yes, glue those pieces as shown in step 4, but you don't have to install the aileron torque rods, you are doing a dual...

RE: LT-40 Kit Update: Bolt Wing Mount & Tail Dragger

I know what you mean about inspiration. It can be a tough call. What about searching full size planes, like a Cessna 180, or Beavers. These colors would be sort of be for work horse type planes. ...

RE: LT-40 Kit Update: Bolt Wing Mount & Tail Dragger

One thing I just noticed. Are you going to have enough prop clearance? I fly off of a nicely groomed grass runway, and I did have green prop tips. Hope it all works out. Daren

RE: LT-40 Kit Update: Bolt Wing Mount & Tail Dragger

Yeah, it was quite an engineering feat to get those blind nuts inside the fuse, and get them set into the wood, and the tailwheel secure with very little room available. Daren

RE: LT-40 Kit Update: Bolt Wing Mount & Tail Dragger

The plane built a wee bit tail heavy, I used a couple of the stick on lead pieces on the front fuselage above the fuel tank. (I made that hatch removeable.) The tail wheel assy. is from Dubro, its...

RE: LT-40 Kit Update: Bolt Wing Mount & Tail Dragger

This was my effort. It was a crash recovery that the owner didn't want to fix. The wing was solid, but the fuselage was pretty beat up. The airplane ran out of battery, and just did a lazy spiral...

RE: New Ultra Stick!

This is my second summer with mine. I have an O.S.46AX on mine, and I love it. I put a Bisson muffler on, and cut down the aluminum mount, and used a Top Flite 11 x 6 to get it to balance properly....

RE: AVISTAR ready-built (discontinued) purchase

AoA, I flew the Avistar for 1.5 summers before upgrading. I also used a 46AX, and it still runs like a top. The airplane has a new home now, but all the gear still lives on in my Hanger 9 Ultra sport...

RE: Club says no to engine stands

What about sledge hammering in a 2"steel tube into the ground 2 or 3 feet, then build an engine stand to slide over the tube. Have a bolt that would go through both tubes, to stop it from turning....

RE: Center of Gravity question.

I had a nose heavy plane and used a wooden prop, a pitts style muffler (instead of the stock one), and I cut down the aluminum motor mount. I ended up using 1 small piece of stick on lead to balance...
