RE: Is a muffler required?

Thanks a lot guys, I'll go and try running the engine :) I'll probably end up getting a muffler eventually, but I've been dying to test the engine out and that's the only thing that was holding me...

Is a muffler required?

Hey guys,
I picked up an OS MAX-H 60 at the local flea market a few weeks ago. It was a great find; the engine is in excellent conditon, and the seller had no idea what it was worth so I got it from...

Old Lipos, hardly used, should I use them?

Hey guys,
I'm getting an old electric plane of mine, e-flite mini pulse, back in the air again. I have some batteries for it but don't know if I should trust them. They are 3 years old, thunder...

RE: Sig Somethin' Extra Build

Ah, it's alright, babbling is what I do all the time (that's why I produce 9 minute youtube videos ;) )
So when doing the pre-covering check, if I were to find a messed up hinge slot, how would it...

RE: These 2 glues the same thing?

He's talking about the Dubro hinge, you have to lubricate the pin before gluing to avoid getting the hinge all stuck with glue. Chapstick, petroleum jelly, and oil seem to do well for a lot of people.

RE: These 2 glues the same thing?

Mighty9, thanks for the quick reply. As long as my canopy glue that I already have is the same thing as RC56, then I'm good to go :)

These 2 glues the same thing?

Hey guys,
Looking over methods of installing Dubro hinges and people seem to like the RC56 glue (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXR529&P=ML) for them.
I thought this looked...

RE: Sig Somethin' Extra Build

Hey guys,
I'll bring the plane to my next club meeting, see if anybody has advice. To me, it's toast, but hey, it may be able to fly.
I do now realise everything I did wrong on every hinge on that...

RE: Need ideas for next airplane!

I seem to be really back-and-forth on deciding another plane.
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll get a nice scale, easy going airplane. The Hangar 9 cub .40 looks really nice to me, I remember...

RE: Need ideas for next airplane!

Hmm the escapade looks pretty cool.
The SSE idea is hard for me... it's been so soon and that was my first ever kit build. The build would go faster but I'm afraid that it's too much work doing 2...

Need ideas for next airplane!

Hey everyone,
Just totalled a new kit build :'(, Sig Somethin' Extra .40. Only the third flight. Aileron failure (you learn from the crashes I suppose).
So I believe every part is salvagable and I...

RE: Need help with prop tracking...

Tacx,
Your method worked fantastically. I bought a tapered reamer ($7), put the new 3 blade master airscrew propeller on the fl70 and the tracking was perfect. I did the same with another 13X6 APC...

RE: Need help with prop tracking...

The aircraft with the FL70 is a Great Planes Big Stik, actually a lot of people convert it to a tail dragger right away when they get the plane. The strikes always happen on taxiing for me; my runway...

RE: Need help with prop tracking...

Mustangman, I'm no expert, but I do know that incorrect tracking can cause more vibrations in flight than normal and also can cut down engine performance. Tracking is pretty important to competition...

RE: Need help with prop tracking...

Tacx, that's actually a really bright idea... I never thought of it that way before. Everything stays square then. I think I may try out the tapered reamer before I go and get another step reamer....

RE: Need help with prop tracking...

Should I not use APC on my airplanes then? The only reason I'm checking prop tracking is to get a smoother running plane without all the massive vibrations that I've been experiencing. I have no...

RE: Need help with prop tracking...

Tacx, actually I have had a lot of prop strikes with the FL70, come to think of it, at least once every time I go to the field... (short gear, bumpy grass runway. I've been thinking of going to an...

The FL70 improved by 1/8" after taking off the spinner, but the tracking is still 1/8" off :/

RE: Need help with prop tracking...

Thumbskull, that's a good idea. I did that with my Saito just now, still 1/8" tracking issue. I'll go try it out with my FL70, I'll get back to you.
