Among all the pattern fliers that I know, we install the antenna inside the fuselage without any reception problems.

The way that I do it is to install a piece of clear antenna tube...from Dubro...

I have one that I'm installing in a pattern plane with OS 1.40 RX. It is a very nice well made mount, but you MUST use a nose ring. It is not designed to be used without a nose ring.

Go to the yellow pages...on the Internet look under plastics then narrow it down to foam. You may also try Thomas Register on the Internet. I would guess that you are looking for 1 lb. per cubic foot...
