RE: Enya 19

Last night was very heavy rain, light hail (nothing bigger than pea sized), and some close groundstrikes, but the wind was only moderate. I'd say I got another 50mm of rain overnight, and the back...

Brisbane weather radar here :-

Looks like this one is going south for the most part. Hopefully The Gap and Ferny Grove / Arana Hills will...

RE: Enya 19

I'm just thankful that full blown tornadoes seem to be a rarity here, unlike in parts of the US. Storm damage I can live with ... but twisters really scare the heck out of me (except for the SIG...

Photo gallery of the storm & damage here:

The damage this time reminds me of the Australia Day 1976 hail storm we...

RE: Enya 19

Two colleagues who live in The Gap had quite serious damage. One lost windows & tiles, had the bottom floor flooded, and lost contents of fridges & freezers due to 48 hours without power. The other...

RE: Enya 19

Kuraby came through fine. No damage at all. We're fairly high here, so no flooding, but my water tank is full now.

Luke - sorry about your bad luck. I'm just glad your engines were high &...

RE: Enya 19

Hey, that was the argument used. It is after all my outdoor table that I keep some of my modelling stuff on on in the garage. Its not like I'm threatening to break in a diesel on her scrapbooking...

RE: Enya 19

Luke,

I know what you mean. My test stand is mounted on a big lump of wood that I then have to place on something else. Not an ideal setup, but my wife vetoed bolting it to the table I wanted...

RE: Enya 19

Hi All,

Mike's SS30S has the weakest / most leaky compression I've ever felt in a glow engine in the .25 - .40 range. Even my Fox and McCoy .35s are better. Hand starting, without a muffler,...

RE: Enya 19

Bob,

That described behaviour on restarting agrees with my experimentation with the engine.

The trick, which I have found to be effective for hot restarting of both the 19-IV and 19-V, is...

RE: Enya 19

Bill,

I hear you loud & clear. I've not been back in the hobby that long myself, but have been busily setting about getting the Enyas that I really wanted when I was at school.

To date I...

RE: Enya 19

How many times did I poke holes in it? Must have been at least 3.

It lives on anyway, in the form of "Goldfinger" - an 8.5oz Norvel .061 powered stunter that is a scaled down version of...

RE: Enya 19

Bill,

To me, a lightly built Super Clown, at 355 square inches, looks ideal. Thats around the same size as the plane we were flying with a model 4005 19-V and black Taipan 9x4 prop. We were...

RE: Enya 19

My comments about bigger props - 9.5x6, etc. where specific to the model 4004 19-IV.

The later .19s - model 4005 19-V and model 4006 19-VI are timed differently and are better off propped...

RE: Enya 19

Can't resist! Here are my thoughts on this lovely engine. (Note, this is very biased material - I have never met an Enya I didn't like!)

I have yet to fly a 19-IV, and the one I'm running now...

RE: Enya 19

On Monday my mate Steve (steve111) and I gave my Enya 19-V some flights in his 360 square inch or so profile stunter, in place of the Olly clone that was in it previously. The 19-V had been chosen...
