Wanna party eh? Here's some hurricane force winds, throw in torriential rain - are ya partyin' yet? No? Well, here's some golf ball size hail stones - that's the ticket! I would like to own a retail wood stove/chain saw store. The sail boats seem to have faired well. An armageddon preview for sure.

I'm just thankful that full blown tornadoes seem to be a rarity here, unlike in parts of the US. Storm damage I can live with ... but twisters really scare the heck out of me (except for the SIG variety
) We also don't get much in the way of earthquakes, nor is is there a single active volcano on the Australian mainland.

When I was five or six I lived at Wynnum-Manly, along the top of Gordon Parade. We had a BIG thunderstorm come along and lo, it did pull a mighty twister out of the bowels of Moreton Bay.
The most terrifying storm I have ever experienced, ever. The wind sounded like women screaming, the sky went black and trees fell, houses fell and the sky fell.
Our own house rocked back and forth on it's stumps so badly we couldn't stand, and at it's peak it pulled an empty house two blocks away off it's stumps and then slammed it back down with such force the stumps were sticking out of the roof.
The press called it a thunderstorm and missed the fact it was an effing twister, everyone there who saw it wrote out their wills. No one was injured after it cleared. It's landborne visit was only brief and then it went back out to sea. Whenever I hear of the tornado season in the USA I shudder. Terrifying beyond measure. Anyone who has been through one has my complete heartfelt sympathy.
EDIT:
Hey hey! Colin, pictures 103 to 106 on the link you provided are right near my place, this is the road the trees were swept down by the floodwater. The SES and council are here as I type clearing it all away.

I viewed every one of the 250 Couriermail photos that Colin sent. I have never experienced anything like THAT. Stop with the tornado stuff already. I live in a mobile home! If a tornado ever hits this cigar tube I'll probably land in your backyard.
You Aussies are just shrugging this storm off as if it were a gentle spring rain. Tough cookies I guess.

Brisbane weather radar here :-
http://mirror.bom.gov.au/products/IDR663.loop.shtml
Looks like this one is going south for the most part. Hopefully The Gap and Ferny Grove / Arana Hills will catch a break & miss out this time.
Something like 250mm of rain fell in Ipswich & Rosewood last night. At Kuraby we got about 150mm based on what my rain gauge is saying, but our drainage is fairly good so no bad flooding.

The ground here is still sodden mainly due to last night's storm. tonight's storm has passed, fairly spectacular lightning but no real wind or rain, which is a good thing. The main body of the storm wheeled to the east, so we missed a large portion of it.
Yeehaw! Glad that's over, I was up til 3:00AM because of last night's rain. The water was rising in the back yard again. I am still drying stuff out from the first disaster and I don't want a repeat.

Last night was very heavy rain, light hail (nothing bigger than pea sized), and some close groundstrikes, but the wind was only moderate. I'd say I got another 50mm of rain overnight, and the back yard now goes "splodge" when I walk on it. I now know that my yard has very good drainage.
Our chickens seem to like this weather - we've had several enormous double yolk eggs from them since the storms started!

Well I received my Enya 30 back from Japan,
Ken Enya said there was a problem with the piston and it needed to be replaced. No drama no hassles, just polite efficient service. Total turnaround time was exactly 2 weeks, plus he through in a couple of spare glow plugs and a sheet of stickers.
You can't ask for better sevice than that, well done Mr Enya [sm=thumbup.gif]

Based upon things I have read on Supercool Racing Propellers.com, here at RCU and lately my personal experience, I won't own anything but an Enya.

I am an Enyaphile myself, and no more secondhand engines from Ebay. Too much junk floating around there.
That's it, if I want any more I will deal direct with Enya. I have done so in the past and the service makes it very worthwhile.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Wow! Excellent service, good company. Glad to hear it worked out for you Mike. So, you have compression now?

Thanks Luke, compression is much better +500-600RPM, and today I bought a SS45 Ring S-PL Pro
Hope you have a good xmas too!

All of my engines are new/used fleabay and I feel guilty as heck. I wonder about our modeling brothers letting me get a very nice Enya .19 for $12.00 at auction. Well, I'm receiving Social Security Disability if that's any excuse. I'd love to purchase a brand new four cycle but I choke at $300.00 to $600.00. Heck, I only paid $525.00 for my 82 Honda motorcycle on fleabay.

Well, it looks like I might need to revive a thread from the dead...
I just acquired a Enya 19 IV today that was given to me after being found in an old barn of all places, along with a bunch of other stuff. When I got it this engine it was frozen solid, but otherwise looked to be in pretty good shape. So I went to work on it, got it free'd up, mounted it on the bench, and what do you know but it runs pretty good! The only concern that I have is that the rod seems to be still frozen to the wrist pin and the pin is turning in the piston itself instead of the rod rotating on the pin. I do not see any kind of a wrist pin circlip either? I have read where some of these engine have brass inserts on either side of the wrist pin to keep it place, but I do not know if the .19 IV has this or not.
Right now I can move the rod/wrist pin back and forth in the piston, but as I said the pin moves and rotates with the rod. If I move it to either side of the piston the wrist pin will protrude about .5mm one way, or 1mm the other. Do I need to soak the piston/wrist pin/rod to get the wrist pin free? And should there be circlips keeping the wrist pin located? As of right now I think my intentions are to build a period correct r/c airframe like a sig seniorita or a Goldberg falcon 56 or similar for it to go in. I believe a M153 strap on muffler will work with it as well since I will need a muffler to fly it at our field.
I hate to revive a 7 year old thread, but it is all about the Enya 19's. Thanks for any help!

The wrist pin should have brass pads either end and, although it's hard to tell from the photos, I think the pads are there. To free up the wristpin in the rod, put the piston back in the liner to limit the sidewards movement then, with a bit of heat or by filling the interior of the piston with acetone, use some pressure on the rod to start sliding it along the wristpin. Once it starts to move it'll free up quite quickly and once out you can give it a clean with fuel. Before you remove the rod, mark the side showing in the photos as the side facing to the back of the engine so it goes back into the piston the same way it came out.

Thanks, and I also do believe the brass pads are there. I left the piston filled with break free overnight, but it has so far declined to actually break free. I then heated the assembly with a heat gun while the piston was upside down in the case/sleeve. All I managed to do at this point was to remove the sleeve from the case itself even though I heated the piston/rod/wrist pin to 306f and then tried to move it back and forth with the pin captured like downunder suggested.
Right now it is soaking again, this time in acetone. To be perfectly honest, if it does not free up I am not sure I am going to worry too much about it as the pin is going to rotate in whatever offers the least resistance. Even if I get the pin free from the rod I do not know that the pin is not going to be rotating in the piston instead of on the rod.
So now I will give the acetone a chance to get after it. On another note does anyone have a good suggestion for a period correct airframe? I think it would be kind of neat to put it in an early to mid 60's airplane. It would have to be pretty light though with some good wing area. I am really considering a Sig Seniorita or something similar.
