hi,
I have an older villian ex and the motors are starting to wear down but i have an emaxx that i am about to replace for a brushless set up. I was wondering if i can transfer the motors from my emaxx and the esc to the villian. I kno the old esc had water cooling would it overheat if i had it in the boat my reason for switching esc is cause i want to run 7 cell batts and the old esc is only rated for 14.4v and not the 16.8 that the emaxx esc is cabable of handling.

Ok i also have two lipos 2s that i know add up to 14.8 is that to much for the stock esc and if so can i replaced the non-watercooled esc for the stock ones in order to run the lipos.

The set up i have is using the stock esc and stock motors i just want to make sure i wont fry the esc by having to big of C rating or to big of mah. Also would it make a difference if i took the stock esc from an e-maxx and used that because i have an extra one.

But I would get a lipo cutoff to protect you from running the batteries too low. I also added one of those little low-voltage buzzers in case I missed the LVC they are under $5.
Can you add your water cooling to the e-maxx esc?

Yes you can runemaxx esc; thats what I am using. Just have to take off the heat sinks and add the optional water cooling kit from traxxas. Only difference is that you dont have a mounted on/off switch. Im using stock 23t motors and 447's. I use two 4000mah 35c lipos. Just changed the set up. Here in Nor-Cal been very windy and havent be able to get to the lake yet...
I have a set of emaxx21t 550... would that make a difference?

It should make a difference, maybe drop a pinion size and check the temps after a run.
I tried the Monster Maxx motors, I think they were the 19t's, man I dropped 2 gears on the pinion and they still got so hot they melted the wires off the motor! (with water cooling)
I've never seen a motor burn up brushes like that either. (I was running 14 nimh cells)
I've gone back to stock motors and props now because I'm using it for a rescue boat. But it's sure nice to use my lipo's in it now. I'm using the Turnigy 5000 and 6000mah batts as well.

Thanks for the info but i heard that you can not get lipo batts wet and i have a small leak somewhere and sometimes water gets in not alot but enough to reach where the batts sit in the hull is there a way to waterproof them?

I've been taping the hatch with hockey shin pad tape. I use reverse a lot using it for a resue boat and it's kept it dry.
And you can put a piece of Sham-wow in to soak up what does get in.<br type="_moz" />
