Yep, he is right

Some say go easy on the discharge for the first 5 cycles....

All I do is charge at 1c for the first charge.

To work out a batteries c rating....
Let's say u have a lipo that is 5000mah, with 25c discharge and 1c charge
To work it out u divide the mah rating by 1000 then times it by the c rating
5000/1000=5 5x25(discharge)= 125a
5000/1000=5 5x1(charge)=5a
That means it can be charged at 5amps and can be used safely on a brushless system of around 100amps, never max out specs of batteries to a ESC, sometimes they lie

Hope this helps...

for long life of the battery, you should not discharge it below 80% of its capacity

examplw: 80% of 5000mah is 4000mah.

my lipo's live by this rule.

Also c ratings are generally over estimated

Lipos are not rocket science. I have cheap hobby king ones. I balance charge them every time (I think it's worth buyin a few extra do you can take the time to do this)<div>
</div><div>And use them at 3/4 c rating max.</div><div>
</div><div>Enjoy </div>

Like I said earlier I balance charge every time to increase battery life. Every 5th charge is okay.<div>Like I said earlier I have a few extra lipo so I can take my time to balance charge every time.</div><div>

Cheers!

Many lipos come from the same factory, there aren't that many, so the variety comes from rebadging. The price difference from profit margins and overheads. I think buying several cheap ones so that you can balance charge them everytime and charge them slowly will payback the origonal outlay. In some instances you can even be cheaper buying a couple cheap ones compared to an expensive.

In the last sentence I mean you could actually be cheaper with 2 cheap lipos compared to one expensive one immediately( without having to wait for treating the two cheap lipos to pay for itself)<div>Not sure if that is clear either!!</div><div>

Buy a lipo tester. Now a good investment, around 8 bucks. I use mine all the time. I charge my lipos with balancerevery time. My c/b is a Common Sense type, so when i charge at 2 amps, it balances each time. Sure it takes time, but i'm in no hurry. Just my 2 cts.
