Default modifying a blast!

i have a traxxas blast that i wish to modify. i got this boat knowing that it was not the fastest, but i only wanted to have one motor and battery to deal with not 2 like the villan. i have lots of room to run the boat so that is not an issue. i want to make it baically as fast as possible. what should i do. i have 4 - 6 cell batteries, that are all brand new, so is it worth it to go up to 7 cell batteries? will the added weight reverse the benefits of the power? the speed control in it can handle 7cells i think. no to the motor. what is the best motor i can get, without completely redoing the inside of the boat to make rook for a bigger motor? thanks

Hi, Rockyrunner,

What you could do:

- Replace the steering prop with a "normal" propshaft and rudder ( the coupling costs power and wears out rather quickly with a hotter motor)Use Graupner K-series props from 33mm upwards (see what you get away with speedwise before the motor starts to smell funny)
- Use one cell more, the ESC should be able to handle that, watercool the ESC and certainly the motor if in doubt.

- Replace the motor with a 9,6V version and run it on 12 cells (here you must certainly replace the steering prop, or be prepared to swim a lot, every time it sheds its parts...)

Feel free to ask, if there is anything that's not clear.

Greetings, Jan.

[X(] My blast is set up the same as yours with a 6 cell pack and my stock tower hobbies turbo v II beats it and it's smooth and makes no noise at all 100% better than the blast!!
Look at the vid all the noise is from the crappy blast!
