Hi guys, ive been fixing my boat prior to painting it (it had some cracks in the hull which needed re-glassing) and in the process want to clean up my Graupner 800 Z-drive, which feels a bit 'dry' and feels like it needs some oil. Question is does anyone know what oils/greases should be used and whether i should regularly open it to maintain or whether it should just be left alone. Thanks,
Jon

yes grease it
how ever you can get the grease to come in contact with the gears , then do it ! its good , and if it hasnt been running for a while , the water some times helps it

Im not too familiar with teh Z-drives but with the materials that they make gears out of yes. If they are a composite black plastic use Synthetic Team Losi White Grease "clearer". If they are a White Composite gear use Team Losi White Grease "foggy looking". If they are a metal of any sort I would reccomend a LITTLE Syl-Glide. These greases provied good protection without slowing down the drive trains too much. Is it hooked to a Nirto engine or electric motor?
