is there any last improvements i could do shaping wise to the hull to make it preform better, for example indent the cockpit from the hulls at the back, is there any advantage to this?
thanks

i used 4oz for the centre strip for strength and then tissue over the rest, the really thin stuff.

i know, whooo, i cant wait, the epoxy is well hard to sand as well, my sand paper wares away before the epoxy does.
i will enjoy the finished product so should be worth the hassle.
by the way the front does not have some crazy dent like in the picture but it is quite rough.

if the epoxy is cured try wet sanding, I find it really helps, since the resin just gums up everything and ruins your paper. I use a small misting bottle.
nice work btw

yeah we have some of that, the wet and dry stuff, will have to get some courser stuff, as ours is way to fine and would take years to take off the amount i need to in places.
i like your idea of the sprayer bottle though thats neat i normally just use a bucket but i bet thats easier.
thanks

Ive never glassed any thing before but i want to try. What tips do u have for me. Ive heard that it is easyer to work with thin stuff opposed to thick. I would use 30 min epoxy resin right? I would like to make a semi deep vee hull that is 10x28. can i get tissue at the auto parts store? last question, What foam is best to use? blue?

Thanks for the interest,
this is my first time at doing this. First tip is to not make the shape to complicated. If you do, like i did, it will be hard to get it looking good, as i am now finding. And it is ok to use thin fibre glass, as long as you not planning on taking out the foam, as it is very flexy. The 4oz section i have is very strong and if you wish to take out the foam, i recomemend using that. Taylor will corect me on this but i think it is better to use a slower drying epoxy resin or it will be very rushed to get it done before it sets. Not sure about where you can get it, in the uk i got mine from a marine shop and it was $45. ouch i know. but this is the uk. I am not sure about foam, i just used what my college had, which was blue coloured.

just want to get a little info.. I worked in a boat shop and we used poly resin & mek or mek-p.. is this any diff from what you guys use to make your hulls, or are your refering to the same thing? the smallest-lightest mat we ever used at the shop was OZ & 1/2, i think thats a little too heavy for modeling. 1 layer of the OZ & 1/2 would be as thick as my SV hull is, but not nearly as strong due to it being mat and not woven cloth.

poylester resin eats the foam away, so you need to use epoxy.
i am going away to poland on friday for a week, so will not be on here, just to let you all know.
thanks for all the help

hey guys,
back from poland, was great out there, everything is so dam cheap, wish i could have found a model shop.
I have to make the hatch cover, as at the moment it is just one solid bit, as it is not finished yet.
All the hardwear is here now except speed control. Got some deans as well.
