Ive been looking at boats lately as we got a cabin on the lake. I looked at the proboat mini-v but that seems a little small so i looked at the proboat shockwave 26 that seems like a good boat for the lake im using it at. Well my main question is... is this a good boat? And what will i need when i get it?
Here is a link to the boat [link]http://www.proboatmodels.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=PRB3100&utm_source=rcu&utm_med ium=banner&utm_campaign=rcu_fts&utm_content=shockw ave26[/link]

Sure its a decent boat for the money. I also like the Aquacraft EP that is in the same price range. As far as the SW26 goes. I like the fact that it is set up as a surface drive, but I don't like the steerable outdrive (strudder) if you are going to do a major motor and prop upgrade then it will have to be converted to a straight drive with seperate rudder. It would not be hard to do at all. But for the aquacraft, it would be much harder to convert to surface drive, some say it can't be done. I think the SW26 has more potential, and rides nice just the way its set up. Yes you could modify it some, but if you wanted a faster motor and upgrade prop then you will need a new esc and separate radio and receiver.
To run it stock you will still need a battery and charger.

SHould be very easy. One way would be to just get a straight shaft that is a little longer than the one thats on there now and put the prop on the end of it. Get a rudder and mount it off to the side or right behind the prop. Reroute the servo connecting rod and your done. Besides the tweaking of course. Here is a pic of an offset rudder. I will look for an inline rudder.

Why do you have to mount the rudder behind the prop? Could you give us a pic of the rear (transom) of the boat?

I believe that in most cases rudders are on the right (when not directly behind the prop) because they are more effective there for right turns typical in clockwise racing). If I was going to build a boat I'd try putting it right behind the prop. But off to the right from the back works fine. Supervee is proof. You may want to do some research on how far off to the side you go before drilling any holes.

yea i think i would mount it behind the motor as i would use the boat up at the cabin and to just drive around and have fun...yea i must be thinking about the water cooling tube the one that comes up from the rudder and into the boat so that must be were the water comes from for the water cooling then comes out on the left side of the boat as i see water shooting out from the left of the boat in some pics?? Correct me if im wrong please... I am a noobie and am looking for boats and the sw26 seems like a good starter boat!

Thats why I liked my aquajet, because the rudder was right behind the prop and it turned great both ways. I also like that cool sound that the prop made because it was so close to the prop. It sounded a little like a nitro boat.
Personally I would get the SW26. The only Traxxas I have ever liked was the TMaxx.

Nice choice, I agree with Taylor, the SW26 looks alot betterh than the Blast.
Just get the boat for now and have some fun. Then you can post some close up pics for us to better help you. You could probably get a rudder with a long stand off mount like the one on the aquajet. The mount just mounts to the transom just above where the shaft comes out.
Just like my picture in post #10
