Default Mono vs Cat

I have been enjoying my supervee 27, but I am wondering if there is a way to find about the same amount of speed with more stability. Will a cat hull provide that additinal stability I am looking for? Any suggestions on a hull that I might start with that would be competitive to the Supervee 27? My brothers and I typically race in a river that is generally very calm.

cat will have more stability in calm conditions....i would guess the SV system in the BJ26 would work great...

you can also try it with an 8XL and a hydra 120 esc with 12-14 nimh cells or 4s lipos...

someone on the ose forum used a nemisis blue 7XL on 2 7.4v 8000mah lipos and did 46.9mph...

oh yeah...that too (go for the scat cat...its cheaper and easier to set up since the deck isnt already glued on...) with the supervee setup in that youl be doing circles around your bro's SV...

My 29" Mean Machine handles much rougher water than my SV and is over 10 mph faster. I do have a 6s setup in it, however. I do think that I could get 50 mph with it using a 8 or 9XL on 12 cells or 4s Lipo though.

So I should be able to drop my SV27 hardware into the Scat Cat 26 without to much hassle?

when you say hardware, you mean just the electronics hardware or the strut and rudder as well?

if you mean strut and rudder, the rudder could be used, but the strut isnt the right type...you would need one like this

http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...d=ros-21-strut

you would need a different motor mount as well

http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...od=ose-drmount

make sure when you mount it that you angle it downward so its pointed to where the strut will be....you can take a peice of wood and cut the angle into to do this...

besides that, all the other stuff should be able to transfered to the scat cat...you wont need the trim tabs or the turn fins though...

Or just p/u the "Race Basic" kit from Randy and have him add the correct motor mount to the package for you...

ABS Race Basic

Race Basic Kit contains: same as Hull Kit plus: a special drive system, rudder, flex shaft assembly, servo bracket, push rods and seals

Suggested Retail $259.95 Sale Price $169.00

Yes, that does sound pretty good. Then I could just pull the motor and the electronics and I would be ready to go. Because I lack self control, what would be the suggestion if I were to go with a fiberglass hull?

drifter S...(180$ hull only[X(][:@])

theres the mean machine hull, but youd probably want a better motor (like a 540XL) but then youd need a new esc as the aquacraft one is meant for 6 pole and feigaos are 2 pole

theres the proboat blackjack 26...(youd have to go to horizon hobby and buy the hull only there...but its not the best quality out there and costs much more than it should)

theres probably others out there

the scat cat w/ hardware combo is still the best choise if you factor in cost and quality....

That makes no difference - the ESC will work on about any sensorless BL motor regardless of the number of poles. The real problem is the amp rating of the SV ESC, it is 45 amps while an XL will pull much more if you want to go faster.

I'd say a Toysport from OFE or a Mean Machine as far as glass goes for 12 cell...or 4s Lipo. I can't tesitfy to the Toysport, although I'd love to build one up. I love the looks of the hull. I can say that I have "backed" my Meanie down to the mid 40's and can corner @ WOT all day. It's a blast and has my hands shaking every time I take off.

yeah, but the toysport cat is 500$ (with hardware)....thats kind of alot, but they produce some of the highest quality hulls out there, so its hard to argue with the price...

True...and like I said. "I've never built one up". Seems like I heard somewhere about a handling deficiency with the Toy, but that might have been in relationship to SAW... Don't let me start a rumor, though. I'm getting old...and, well, uh.... nevermind.
