Leaky water jacket!!
Hello Everyone
I assembled my sport 40 hydro together and when I tested it(on the stand) the water jacket was leaking and spraying water about when I ran the throttle. Thank god I caught that flaw[sm=eek.gif]. I've just applied some silicon glue(stuff that most water jackets are made of) around the ends to see if it'll help.
Overall any other suggestions?
This is the jacket:

The rubber O rings are aligned in their slots and are not pinched anywhere in the jacket.

Hmm that is strange, they are usually very good and never leak. Was it tight when you put it on the motor? What motor are you using it on. I actually cut a O-ring once trying to put a jacket on.

It was definately tight. I'm using a feigao 540 10xl. I did what the instructions said for putting the o ring on. dab a pinch of oil on the rings and then put it on. I had no problem doing that.
Maybe the oil played a part in the leaking but I have absolutely no other idea on how to get the o ring on the motor while in the jacket.
For now should I probably switch to the SV27 cooling jacket? Currently got one on hand from an older project.

THose silicone jackets are horrible. If your boat is running at any kind of speed they will leak. I have run many of the OSE metal and plastic jackets and I have never had a single drop of water in my boats. I think you had a bad oring or something.

humph, I just tested the thing out today with the ends sealed with the silicon glue stuff and it still leaked.
I think I'll try getting those O rings on with out oil. How did you get yours on?

I had to oil mine to get it on. I would take it completely off and check the orings for damage, check the water nipples too. Can you plug one side and blow water through the other side to see exactly where the water is leaking from??

Doesn't seem to be coming out the sides. I think the spouts weren't tightened enough.
Here's a pic of the silicon glue. It's only on the can, not on the motor endbell:
