Hey guys, I don't get time to follow the forums much. But on the flex shaft for the electric setup the flex shaft is 4.5", the nitro flex shaft is 4.75". That is way the coupler was sticking out the motor adapter. Even so, some times the flex shaft has to be trimmed to fit besause they can run on the long side about a 1/16". As a side note I will be testing a new material I am having compounded on the lower units. Should be stiffer and lighter.

Tunnel fans,
I ran the big H&M Skater with great disappointment. Let's say the lipo did not stand tall, albiet an old one - Align 4200mh 6s2p. In front of my mates too?!?!
Now men, I have been thinking about a TS2 electric boat like a couple of tunnel nuts on this site! Went to Bunnings Hardware and the mutant at the counter miss counted my stack of balsa. I had 4 sheets of 2mm, 3, 4 & 5mm and he counted one? Being a redundant bas***d, I did not say a word. Commenced coffin build for TS2, please see and or abuse:
'Electrickery' (HM Skater) is going sick on 5s/x442 too.
Just my report...

Peter

Why not just make one long box ? (I did on mine) you will have the battery all the way at the front and in mine it I run it about where you have your space with no box and you will have to make your wires longer to be able to hook up the battery to esc (yes I know it is a pain to cut the right shape for the side of the box been there done that but worth it in the end)

Gday eboat,
Yer mate I tried to copy your radio box, but as you say it was a pain to get that angle right. The servo and esc fit snug in the rear box and the battery up the front. There is no issue with wire length. I will make a waterproof peice for the wires from box to box. The battery is 5s and it has about 1 inch of play in the front box. I too have the REK but pulled down a nitro/Lawless to make an electric. My elec motor has a mount on the REK and sits up high, where my KB & Lawless don't.
Hi Richard,
Nice plans and thanks.

Regards
Peter

G'dday Peter

Nice boats! Hot pants looks hot

Your mate Rob showed me the same pictures last week and was telling me about the place near the airport where you guys went to run the boat, Engine pond if my memory is good..... Small world eh

Your lawless lower leg conversion looks very neat. How did you drill the leg to fit the electric motor? Did you do it yourself or by a professional?

As for me I'm nearly done building a fibreglass cover for my K&B leg complete with water plumbing. Will be fitting the leg to a catamaran I bought on Ebay. It'll be mainly a fun semi scale project, not a racer.... I'm going slowly with it because of other family commitments.

Cheers

JC

Hey JC,
Thanks buddy. Yes I recall Bob asking me if I know a JC? I said yes mate, on an r/c internet site. Then he told me and just blew me away. Tis' indead a small world. I could be typing this thinking your in Cairns, when in fact you could be just up the road. Argh the internet, mind boggling stuff eh?
Lawless was done by a metal worker in Vic. He drilled it out and put a grease nipple on it for me. I found him on Int Waters site.
That's good news about your cover coming along. Yer, the mill ponds are ok near the airport, but I am not sure if it is actually ok to run there. No one came over or said anything. There is a road that runs parallel to one of the ponds with a 80km/h speed limit for the cars. It is higher than the pond and the drivers look down to the water. Electrickery, the wee little HM tunnel, was exceeding 80 with 5s lipo and X442. I like the idea of a r/c boat lunatic from say Germany or US, getting off a 20 hour flight and the first thing he/she sees is an electric boat in a swamp doin' 80 kay!!! Love it.

JC,
You know the top pond off Henry Lawson Drive? I flipped a tunnel in the middle about 2 months ago. I sat me lumbering buttocks in my 1.5m long Target child inflatable and started paddling to get it. About 20m out from the grass edge, from the first bank of trees, there is a r/c yacht submerged. I got it out and it said Thunder Tiger on it. Pretty beat up so I let it sink again. I have no idea how one could sink a yacht there unless those warship hoons shot it up with their BB air cannons when they play war games. Anyway, just letting you know if you need a busted up yacht for parts??

I also blew a Hobbywing OEMRC 80amp esc. I left it at the lakes edge for other boaters to marvel and discuss. JEEZ they stink man!!!! Young Bob was out rescueing my wood tunnel when I heard him scream PS PS, your boat is smokin' son? We both panicked like little girls and I said throw some water on it mate! Bob had an oar and proceeded to splash me tunnel, whilst going around in circles. Smhoke was pishing out of the rear of the boat now so Bobos just kept oar pushing it back to shore. I was worried we would breath this most foul smelling odour and develop brain tumours or maybe the boat would actually catch fire or even Bobos and the Target special inflatable would go up in flames? Anyway, tunnel back on shore, I ripped the cowl off and all the perspex lids were black and the boat filled with smoke. I held my nose, disconnected the battery and just started ripping into it with my bare hands like Arnnie would have. The boat survived and Bob and I went home laughing about it. Mrs made me keep the boat outside for 2 weeks till the smell went away.

Peter

Thanks for your stories. I just laughed at my computer screen

Graupner has released a new brushless outboard and that should save us an electric conversion.

Check it out.

It still uses 4mm threaded props though. Big disadvantage.

What is a good grease to use for the lower flex cable? Prather cable grease? Mercury outboard cable grease? Marine wheel bearing grease?

Thank you for the well come. I will certainly need help, and i'll help in everything i can.

Have a few props
The prop i'm using in this vid is a prather 215. I'll try some others.

Let us know how she runs.
I hoppe i can make a video this W/E to show you the results.

Changed the bearings in the motor and that made a big difference on how it turns over.
I didn't do it yet, but i've heard its a big difference. Is it a KB 45? The part that links the leg W/ the boat is beautiful!!!

I made some tests to know how many Amps my motor debited and the results are incredible. At least for me!

Enjoy

You need a watts up meter to take measurements while you run on the water. You can't get true amp readings holding the boat still. The amp reading will be very high that way.

Even a watts up meter does not show the correct value you want. The best measuring device for a boat would be the Eagle Tree Data Recorder.

Mate, I have no idea. Went to the pond and connected it all up and didn't work Got home, took it apart, connected it all up and it worked again. Electric gremlin, soldering, I'll figure it out.

Take care
