RE: Unofficial
Ive had a few enquiries about the boats, shipping for 2 boats with lipos, exc tx and rx, UK is £5.00, USA is $36.00, providing I pack to a certain dimension. Thats by plane not boat, but not insured. 1 boats is a few dollars less, thanks to all who have asked

RE: Unofficial
Guys,
I am a newby to the thread, though I have read it all - I have about 3 years of heli flying (sports flying - loops, flips rolls etc.) and felt the need for a bit of diverisification and these look FUN .
I love fiddling so have ordered a couple of these (OK then 3) for me and my G/F to play with. A couple of questions / requests if I may ......
Are you all using water cooled inrunners or have any of you had success using out-runners ? I have various 2.3mm shaft heli outrunners of around 2800 - 3500 KV that I am keen to try.
Could someone please show some clear detailed photos of how they have done the water-cooling pick-up in the stator ... without meaning to be rude, most of the pictures aren't very clear ... what did you use for the pick-up ?
What size pipe are people using to go between the pickup / cooling jackets / outlet.
Thanks in advance for the help (hopefully ) received.
Cheers,
Mike.

RE: Unofficial
i used a fuel tubing connector (i would take pictures, but my camera died so the attached ones are the best i have)
but its a fuel tubing connector with two ends like the one in the picture and a flat section in the middle (so that each piece of tubing can only be pushed on so far) so it looks like (yes one side was longer than the other)
i cut the short side at an angle (not a huge angle, probably about equal to a backslash on the computer / ) and used a reamer to get a tight fit on the hole in the stator. i then ca glued it on very well =P
hard to explain, hopefully my pictures help for placement and such

RE: Unofficial
Just throwing this out there.Maybe someone enjoys building or wants to move on to another project.
What i'm wondering is if anyone would like to sell me one of these cool modded little boats?.My request would be a newer quality CLEAN build that has been run and tested, not something that is all messed up.I just want a good quality model example using one of these NQD tear into platforms.I realize that time and know how is worth something and dont mind paying for it [8D].I dont need lipos.Thank you
PM me if you think you have what i'm looking for and i will send you my email address..Thanks again

Hi Town boy, if you look back only a couple of posts, you will see that I am moving on from my 3 jetboats, as the kids dont want them!
I have the camoflage one available. The esc is playing up, as the warranty is none existant I have found this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
to replace it. Shipped to USA is $100, excluding rx, tx, lipo, and new esc. It has thew gauze mod, watercooling, if its of interest let me know, it has been used for 40 mins total, brand new walkera 3200kv motor.
thanks,. Paul

RE: Unofficial
the best bet would be to find one that could be sanded down and find someone to lathe a new shaft that will then accept those props later on.
otherwise the graupner 19mm prop is your best bet, but you need the 3mm shaft mod to fit those

RE: Unofficial
What does anyone think of this motor:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=4197
instead of the walkera 180 for 3s use? The kV is a bit lower, but its a bit bigger so it should run cooler. Will the top speed be noticably lower?

thansk Demon, looks like for now I will have to donate one from one of my boats, I suppose the 3mm conversion would be best, I can then use bearings also!

yup =)
@wparsons: that motor im not sure about, i know nothing about electric rc stuff aside from personal experience (i.e. what that motor will change on your boat) BUT that motor is a 2mm shaft, not a 2.3mm shaft so unless you have an adapter i wouldnt recommend getting it

RE: Unofficial
I had good results witha 2600kv outrunner, with an outer can. It ran very cool, didnt need water cooling, run time was same as the walkera 180 motor, but in a straighht line, it was slower. It was however a good quality motor, mtroniks, ballraced. Turnigy are a reasonable make, but its still more expensive than the walkera, and as its unknown why bother with wrong size shaft?

RE: Unofficial
How about something like this:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=11173
A 450 outrunner is probably overkill, but I bet it would run MUCH cooler and 3200kv should keep the speed up. I've got lots of couplers laying around, so the 3mm shaft won't be an issue.

RE: Unofficial
If you guys don't mind, I will jion in here and put in 2c...
My guess (from previous experience) is that the motor will cause some serious torque roll issues - under hard accelleration and deceleration your boat will attempt to flip itself. I had this happen in a similar sized boat - it may have had a bit less beam, so it is possible you can get away with it.

I recently made my 3rd nqd boat, sunk it the other day esc is not functioning properly now and will probably reorder another marine esc from hobby king soon. Summer is almost here and I'm sure demon and I will have some new vids up soon.

That outrunner is the right size (28mm) and rpm's, so if you have a 2.3mm to 3.17mm coupler the only issue would be if the mounting screw holes will line up. They probably will. Should be a good one to try - plenty of power!

RE: Unofficial
^^ Good to hear! I've got lots of couplers, so that won't be an issue at all! I'm going to have to make or buy a cooling plate for the outrunner, so that could take care of any mounting bolt issues as well!
I'll add it to my list of things to buy in the next HK order!

I don't know if torque roll is an issue with jet boats, as the stator behind the impeller essentially cancels it out.

RE: Unofficial
ah, yea. we both have inrunners, outrunner i can see causing a problem with the increased weight spinning.
IF ANYONE WANTS BATTERIES / ESC / SOMETHING from www.hobbyking.com, email me deivionstarx(at)gmail(dot)com. etokyopop and i are ordering stuff from there sometime soon and since the most stuff you order, the cheaper shipping gets we may as well ask if anyone else needs stuff.

Torque roll shouldn't be an issue with a 28mm outrunner in this (wide beam and short length) boat. And it might not need extra cooling with that motor, as it has a built-in fan. Try short runs at first, and check temps.

I was referencing the increased rotational mass of the endbell, as opposed to a inrunner with a relatively small stator...

RE: Unofficial
its going to be almost non existent . one the motor sits low in the hull two that plane prop has a lot more mass then the 19mm impeller . there was one guy on here that was running a 550 and a 600 brushed motor that had no problem with torq roll . now if this was a prop drive different answer.
