could try adjusting the start up, it lets you decide how you want the motor to start when you throttle up, this can be done through the transmitter or better is to buy a program card, hobbywing/seaking do the the same one. you can change the values of the esc and set it up how you want

if you get a program card, leave the brake off, this will end up blowing your esc, all i have adjusted on my esc's are, voltage cut off (3.4v instead of 3.2v) start up ( from normal to soft) and motor timing (high timing for my outrunner motor)

can't find start up mode on istructions just cells3, cutoff , timing ,and running mode witch is just forward only and forward and back ! will timing reduce heat in my outrunner because the 35a almost burnt it up on 3s

and if your setup is not right, that could be your heat issue

I love these esc's, soaked them and they are fine. Yea I don't remember there being a startup setting. The low speed is going to be an issue with brushless but it sounds like you have something else going on.

i'd check every connection, a small tug and if any move slightly, take of the heat shrink and see if re-soldering is needed

I know this post is old, but I am having this exact issue...I have tested two new Seaking 35 amp units and same issue. The program does not allow for throttle curve settings and despite any changes in the transmitter, I have almost no throttle curve at all. I am using this transmitter and receiver...

Wow - I know, old thread but I'm so glad I finally found someone else to confirm this high start issue. I've had 2 of these POS' sitting in a box and always wondered if I was doing something wrong. I tried every adjustment/setting many times and nothing helped. If you do a bench test you can see that the 1st throttle step is like 20 to 30%. It was a problem just putting my little mono in my pool and flat out unusable in my rescue boat. And both were advertised as Ver 2...
I finally swapped both out with the HobbyWing/Turnigy Car 35 ESC's. What a difference having full low speed control!!!. Just be careful since they're not water resistant.
