Don,
Is the one you are talking about the one that is on Lex's outboard? I am running the YPClower.
Cheers,
Dion.

Nope, my exhaust is hand made by JohanD from the Netherlands and I did some modifications myself to make it really wrap around the motor.

OKnow we need some more pics of Dons pipe. Hows the power output of that pipe Lex? Did Johan ever make any more of those pipes that he cut up to make that one?

Thanks for the pics Don, will this pipe outperform the QD Hotpipe?

It is a QD Hot Pipe. I just angled the pipe coupler and added a bend to a larger internal stinger.

Hi Don,
Is there any adjustment in that pipe that would allow the stinger to sit higher off the cav plate? On my set up the distance between the center of the exhaust outlet on the engine to cav plate is 125mm and the section on top of the cav plate that the pipe mounts to is 40mm high and then tapers down at the end as you can see in the pic. I like the way your pipe comes back to the center but not sure if it will fit my setup.
Cheers,
Dion.
sorry for the pics on there side-stupid iphone

With all the dimensions I'm sure it could be moved up. You need to know how much room you have in front for the radious of the main section to move down a little as it would move forward a some.

Hi Don,
I think I have 80mm on the front from center of exhaust port to the furthest/mostforward partpart of pipe, 95mm if I cut the cowl. hopefully these pics may be of some help,
Cheers,
Dion.

RE: GAS OUTBOARD guys this is our new home
Im looking at different pipes for my OB... Im running a YPC leg with a Tuned 31cc Stroker Zen on it... i do have a YPC centre bleed pipe but just wondering what else is on the market. After all half a two stroke power is from its Pipe.
We did try a tuned 26cc pipe on it and it sounded stangled abit... Sounded fine with a stock zen on it... the 26cc is a weapon with same set up in a deep v hull with a nice straight pipe.

That seems logical, 31 cc is not 26cc so the 26cc exhaust is to short (not enough volume) for your 31cc engine..
That is why the QD for example has the "adjustable" steel hose between the header and expansion piece..

You might be right, but the the speed of the sound wave doesn't scale up with a bigger motor, so the right way to vary the volume is by the diameter(s).

Hi there guys!!
Just thought I would show you a couple of pics of the Illusion now that it has some color. Paint work isn't finished but is getting closer. I have a can of black to do some sort of scheme with.

RE: GAS OUTBOARD guys this is our new home
I took my Gas tunnel to a club meet on the weekend and was suprised to get a couple of the guys there liking it enough for them to say they wanted one. I currently am the only one that I know of at the club with an outboard gas tunnel so it would be great to get another one or two there.
Going to run with Bruce tomorrow and his F1,touch wood I dont have any coil issues like I did on the last run.
Happy boating,
Dion.

RE: GAS OUTBOARD guys this is our new home
Hi there guys,
Was out with Bruce boating yesterday and we tried different props and tested there speed and the best I could get out of my set up was 77.8 km using a Prop Shop 7014/2 prop. I am running a stock RCMK 254, fuel was 25:1 using just standard unleaded. the spark is just starting to get brown so I am just slightly rich but not by much. The hull is not wet at all, she is right out of the water but still hadling well(will need more ballast in rougher water).
My question is: What sort of speedHave othersothers got running stock engines and with what prop?? I would just like to know how I am doing so far.
I thought I would get more speed with the 3 blade prop, but maybe I need a mod engine to turn it faster as the 2 blade mentioned above was about 5kmh faster than the Prop Shop 6717/3.
It would be great to hear what other peoples experiences have been,
Cheers,
Dion.

On my F1 the stock zen engine use to be able to turn the 2 blader easily sop it reved more and goit a more speed that way. I could never get the same engine to turn a 3 blader that well. just more surface area in the water i think.
Never had a GPS on it yet. Will do next time i have it out.
