Default Is the RCMK EVO really "that" good???

Well, I am 90% building a 47 inch lynx mono, currently i have a brand new stock zenoah g260 in it. The questions is, I can buy a brand new RCMK evo from gizmo motors at $250.00 with the shipping and sell my zen on ebay for $175 so it's only a $75.00 (difference) investment. I have ran 3 other G260 zens before on different boats and I NEVER had a "reliability" issue with them, AT ALL! Does anyone have good proof that the EVO can beat a zenoah g260 overall (speed, torque, RELIABILITY, gets on pipe, etc). Should I do the switch? The only drawback that i see on the stock zen is power, other than that it gets an A++++ from me! I plan to leave the evo stock too.

The evo is the latest model so should have no problems. Power wise is a no brainer 5 vs 3. If you can get 175 for your stock zen then go for it. I myself wouldnt buy a used stock zen for that especially when the brand new evo is $75 more. But hey thats just me. Some people live and die for them zens.

mine is not a "used" stock zen, it's actually a brand new stock zen w(257carb) that i payed 230 with the shipping from bonzi like one month ago. But anyways thanks for the comment! Yes, i know "power-wise" it's a no brainer, but DO WE WANT TO RISK IT? hahhahahaha

Get it. I saw one in action today. It was pushing a 57" boat without any problems.

I was thinking about getting an rcmk for my 57" apache. Compared to a Quickdraw or a mod. zen it seems like the best bang for your buck.
Am I wrong? Rcmks' website wasn't very informative.

5.1 hp beats 4.3 hp any day.

eengler

It doesn't matter if it was never run or not, if it doesn't come from a dealer its not worth the same price as new, for starters there is no warrenty, that alone knocks the price down.
If you can get 175 on the bay take it and run.

If you go to gizmomotorsdotcom you'll see they claim 5 hp and 2 of torque for the evo. And I believe a stock zen g260 is on the high 3.8 hp and 1.5 torque, correct me if i am wrong.......about the performance stats....... The RCMK is $250.00 shipped and the G260 is $180.00 shipped..... I see most people want the RCMK's for a bigger application, but does anyone have this engine hitting 60+mph on any boat or has anyone actually seen one HAUL serious ***? None of the videos of Evo's in youtube impress me.....

my rcmk has a stroker crank it will come out after this last dist 3 race for some more mods as for the price and support after the sale the rcmk is a great motor as with any engine depending how fast and what application your using the engine some mods are necessary you will always find a difference of opinion but i am happy with my rcmk good luck

I have 2 S-254's and just got an Evo dropped into a hull but will wait until spring before it sees the water.
Bruce sells the Zen's also so all of the engines that he sells he dyno's for comparison. It's not the perfect engine yet but I'd place it higher than the Zen. A lot of people that are hard-core Zen owners won't tell you about how many come from the factory with bent cranks. Zenoah really needs to step up now that they've got some serious competition.

A lot won't but I have pointed out the bent cranks and sticky pistons along with the other problems with the zens numerous times.

With RCMK you get a response to your problem, with K/Z IF they even reply, they will tell you its your fault, out of warrenty or outright deny theres a problem.

The RCMK EVO's are awesome engines and will nearly stay with any of the full mod Zenoah's. I have run my stock EVO's against most of the major engine builders Zenoah's and have no trouble racing at the same level they do, the slightly more topend some have the Evo makes up for around and out of the turns in most every case. I own six full EVO's and several more Zen/Evo hybrids. The Evo's have not had any problems. The oldest one was like the second one to hit our shores and still screams.

Just one video of my bronze metal flake Lazer with stock EVO playing with a purple flake Razor with a major engine builders new full mod Zenoah.

The stats I got direct from RCMK:
hp 5.03
tq 2.0
rpm 22000

Our "S254 Evo" stock running test result.
Boat hull : Zenith (Deep-Vee hull)
Octura 1475 prop(Modified) : 94.8km/h
Prop shop 7016/3blade : 89.6km/h
Prop shop 7018/3blade : 92.7km/h
Australia prop 7040/3blade : 93.8km/h
RPM : 22,038(Max RPM)

Other good points I saw whan buying were it didn't look like a weedy with a cooling head slapped on (zens are bloody ugly compared to the Evo), It was cheap, the service seemed great and the people at RCMK listened to feedback about the original engine and changed what needed changing according to the info received from the people running their engines. Can't go wrong I reckon.
Cheers, Chris

Default RE: Is the RCMK EVO really

That sounds about right, yesterday i was running against a modded zen/lazer/hotpipe and he was doing 58-59 mph. My Faclon cat with the stock zen/modded 257 carb / 2 inch pipe is doing 56-57mph. We where doing some really nice laps in our lake, our lake is completly set up for racing with bouys. I was actually in front of him becuase the "oval track" is very large and my cat can stay almost 100% throttle around corners and my driving skills are a little better. But that lazer on the hands of a good driver would have "whooped my butt"!!! So, in theory a stock Evo runs quite close to a modded zen! Bruce from giz says that if I use the modded 257 carb on the evo it should have "even better" throttle response than with the carb it brings stock. That means that if I want to see my lynx/silex run 56-58 I must use the EVO, the stock zen will not have power to push it that fast, the stock zen might work in the cat becuase it picks up more air underneath..... thus cats are faster than vees......

yes, definately a fuji.... those Rio's run in the high 70's with them plastic props. If you change the prop and add some more stickers on the hull it will do 80mph plus!!!

You forgot to add that its doing those speeds & turning under 9k.
Don't mean to get too far off point. This thread opened my eyes to the RCMK engines. Any mods that are suggested for right out the box? Stock zens usually need the piston turned down.
