also that im able to charge the battery pack without having to remove the lid off the radio box. Ive also finished installing the pipe

Boat looks really nice but i still say you need a carb shield because the fin throws up lots of water and it will get sucked in.Heres a pic of one i found, not my boat but gives you the idea. Not sure that foam will do the job but you could try i supose.
Mart
ps what are your water lines made of ? they need to be high temp silicone.Pvc will just melt also fuel lines need to be tygon not pvc or it goes hard and brittle.

Why do you have a square collet adapter inserted into a round collet? (Bottom picture) if you want to run a square end cable just get a insert from Gizmo or Bonzi to replace the JHOround one in the set up you have I don't think the way it is will last long - way too much weight for the aluminum shoes on that clutch

...im now starting to see progress. With the new custom engine rails installed and the motor mounted, shes not far off now.
Driveline shortened, stuffing tube and drive train in place, extra floatation added, strut and rudder installedand no onto the electrics.

...thanks for the info Misty I will look into getting one of those inserts.I was not aware you could get a square drive insert for the round collet. Had I have known I would have done so. It seems to be okay and strong enough but the weight issue you bring up could be a concern. Ide probably be more concerned about the bearings than the clutch shoes, but time will tell. Im hopefull it gets wet for the first time this weekend so we will see just how it all holds up together.

It might mean I make another square drive flex cable and remove the additional square collet adapter, which wont be to much work. Maybe even look at replacing with aluminium shoes with heavy duty ones.

...last night saw me modifying the cowl to accomodate the carby and the addition of an air filter tolimit the amount of water which might enter the carby.
With that done a little more fuel run through themotor and tweaking thecarby settings saw an 18k+ rpm reading. I still need to now grease up the new
drive train and re-install it ready for the first maiden cruise around the pond to startputting a little load on the motor, it should only get stronger.

I will get a few more pics up and hopefully some video of its first maiden cruise with some GPS figures. Shes a little over weight at 8.7 kilos (19lbs)
with a full tank so I am about 4lbs over from were I would be with a recommended hull. Most of the additional weight is on the motor, mounts, clutch etc.
Fingers crossed all goes well tomorrow morning and the weather holds up. Time to have some fun.

Looks good good luck with it ,one thing i dont like is that kill switch on the top, those things tend to switch off themselves when things get wet etc.Its allways best to set your throttle so you can kill it with the radio. One thing i do like it the carb cover did you make that yourself? looks good i hope it works as well as it looks.

...thanks Mart. The carby cover was something I picked up at a local speed shop. Could not go past it for
AU$15 brand new to give it a go. Oiled inner washable filter, barrel unscrews and easily attaches to the
carby, held on by an O ring. Should easily stop the majority of water entering the carby.MMMMM those kill
switches, I know but ill see how it goes. I also hope it goes as good as it looks lol. Im hoping for at least 60kph
on its maiden. I wont push it to hard until a few tanks have gone through her.

I believe these engines keep making power as they break/bed in. Ill be trying the standard prop and the X470.

FINGERSCROSSED!!!

...on a side note, how would I go about eliminating the kill switch and using full brake on the TX to kill the engine?
Do I start by adjusting the throttle servo slightly open and tuning as required? Then set high speed again?

Its running a Walbro 257 so what would need to be done?

That's basically it. Carefull manual adjustment so the throttle butterfly is closed when the trigger is pushed forward, at an idle at neutral and of course full throttle when you need it. Having a computer radio really helps keep things easy for this part.

Hi mate just for the next one you might want to consider a ferrule setup to join the flex to stub if your going to use a square ended flex. The ferrule stops the flex and shaft sliding out of the boat also but because it uses grub screws to attach the ferrule to the stub its easy to remove as you just loosen the grub screws and everything can come out easy .The flex is soldered into the ferrule using silver solder.

here we go....my first video and first tank of gas on the water. For the first time out with the Octura X470 prop she came
in at 54kph. No records yet, should only improve with a little more gas and the right prop.

Not shure but I also think the strut can come down even further. Could someone please help in this are? How low should the
strut be? Riding very wet and the rear transom needs to be lifted more when on plane.

.guys, I have a question regarding the hydro. Will the use of a 6717/3 lift the rear up some more as it gets on plane?

Asuming you use a stock 6717/3 without the tips removed it should work just fine asuming the cog is set right, heres an old vid of my zippkits roundnose running that prop at 60+mph with a modded zen. Also ran pretty well with a stock motor in a mates its all about fine tuning on the pipe length and strut height as with any boat really, just a case of testing readjusting and retesting but then thats half the fun seeing what adjustments do what.Best advice i can give is do one adjustment at a time.
