gooycheese, boats generally keep me in trouble with the wife.
Torquer, I saw a real Cat today on it's trailer on my way home from work, and I thought about your project. Wish I had my camera. I
guess one good thing about living in south Florida is you get to see alot of cool and expensive toys
Are there any updateds or new pics.
Keep up the good work

Hi flyinJ: The formers are every 3 inches. The sides of the tunnel will be the main support for the formers. I'd be willing to help any way I can... I'm by no means an expert boat builder but I'll pass on what I can...
Byron: I got most of the main structure cut and picked up some epoxy today to seal it all up. Hopfully I'll get to mess with it some more this weekend...

Are you going to make plans of this boat? if so that would be cool. Id be willing to purchase them. Any new pics. What are you going to use for an engine cowl?

Plans...well let's see how well this hull works. There may have several evolutions to get it right... If all turns out well then some time may be spent on converting the design to CAD. I’ve been dabbling a little with making 2D and 3D CAD drawings and pretty much got it figured out. So, plans may become available.
I’ll make the cowl from scratch. It’ll be a mock of a C1 cockpit.
Sorry, but a pile of wood really doesn’t make for good picture take’n…

The main structure is made out of 1/4" balsa. The engine bay will be boxed with 1/4" ply stringers. The skin is 1/32 ply and will be toped with glass...
Everthing is being test fit. Next the engine bay needs to be opened up...

Well, I’ve been out of pocket and time has been very limited for any modeling fun. I appreciate the enthusiasm and am very eager to make some more progress.
About the only thing new to report is fitting and measuring the formers…making sure everything lines up square and fits perfectly. The next plan of attack is beefing up the rear section of the hull then open up the center of the hull to accommodate the engine, fuel tank, electronics and so on… Once that’s done, then it’s on to sealing the wood and putting together the superstructure.
I’m also waiting for the strut and rudder to arrive so that I can make sure that there won’t be any unforeseen problems with fit.
