I actually ran a tank through in my buddys pond just before dark. I fiberglassed the front and just primed it. It needs to be sanded better and painted properly. I guess it is important to get right back at it and don't let it get you down. She has character now the first crash is out of the way.
I am thinking about an electric next maybe a Hydroplane UL1?
res3567 Are you talking about the low speed or high speed needle?

The HSN....and she starts on the first or second pull....gets up to plane quickly with a light toss.....and I get about 8 min. run at full throttle with lots of right turns. She can go longer...up to about 12....but I give myself the cushion so she won't run out of fuel in the midde of the lake.

I would get the futaba, 2.4 and run the stock servos.
LSN question - side of carb. Screw should be set flush with carb body then screw IN .5 turn, that is the factory setting.
My question - what is the hump battery pack? is that the 4-cell in the radio box? and what should the voltage be to change out batterys? I have a digital multi-meter. I am assuming the voltage should be close to 6volts? 1.5 v per AA battery right?
thanks in advance

A Hump Back battery is a Sub C 5 cell 6v NiMh or NiCd Rechargeble Battery.
Like This
Alkaline AA's Peak at 1.5v but drop to 1.2 prety quick, less than 4.8v total and you need replacments. A 5 cell pack will hold the higher voltage much longer and prevents loss of connection from the cheap battery holder.

Basically...there is no standard setting....you will have to adjust for your conditions....... weather is the most common......Generally...I adjust mine to were it won't stay started then back off to were it will......then I adjust the HSN. Humidity can play a large role in the way an engine runs among other things....

Does anybody know where the Low Speed Needle needs to be set? I know the video says it is factory set but what is that?

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
After running my boat Saturday I decided it has been about 4 - 5 runs since I greased the cable so I pulled it out to grease it. I am lucky I pulled it out when I did..... I have one more stock cable that came with the boat when I bought it from a member on this site. I better get a Hughey or one of those cables from OSE or Kintec. Which one do you guys think is best or have had good luck with?

i'd go with the Hughey....top of the line, better construction...you pay a little more but its worth it....you'll be glad you did. ive ordered from ose in massachusetts a few times for my boats....they have good customer support, and fast efficient shipping. usually recieve my stuff within 3 or 4 days ground service, which was sent outnext working day after your order if its in stock...(being you'reinCNYtoo, it should be just as quick)

The Hughey flexshaft will serve your needs well....but you have to cut them to the required lenth....an easy task with a Dremmel and OSE has them in stock. The OSE version that is already cut to fit is a great one also.....but I bought the last one.....after my stock shaft broke. OSE does not have them in stock though....Very fast shipping....3 days and it is in my hands....AWESOME!!!! OSE ROCKS!!!!Here is your link.

Serpents Den and res3567,
Thanks for the quick replies I think the Hughey is the way I will go from OSE.Have either of you changed the teflon sleeve? How big of a chore is that? I guess the way my cable looked in the middle there I will bet it chewed up the sleeve if there was one in there.....

I am also using Grim's Grease. I can't see a sleeve at either end but I haven't looked hard either. Worst case is wearing through the stuffing tube and have to replace right?

With my experience....no. Mine was in two pieces....and I thought it broke when my stock shaft took a dump....but I found out through this forum that it is normal......to be in two pieces from the factory.....

aye right from the factory, the teflon sleeve is in 2 pcs...center of stuffing tube is a bit bare, you can go ahead and replace it with a full length one but really not neccesary unless yours are torn up........ atm no updates of my SV27, been working long hrs since my schedule change, no longer have any days off during weekend atm have wednesdays n thursdays off, usually doing errands...now that the days are getting shorter again, even trying to run mine afterwork has been hopeless, unless on the bench, which ive only been able to do once just for the hell of it....
Gotta luv the smell of nitro

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
Well....if any of you all don't know...I lost my original SV. Let a relative drive it and had a crash against the concrete enbankment.....she up ended...and then sank to make a long story short. I figured the hull must have been ripped open as she took less then 5 seconds to up end....and a couple of minutes when she sank. My relative bought me a new blueSV and I have broken her in and she screams accross the pond....although I still think about the white one sitting at the bottom. I have added flotation to the back of the hull and the cowl...although my white one had flotation added to the cowl as well....but she still sank. I am still a bit tramatized by this....the water in my pond is waist deep at the shore....and with the way the wind and currents were blowing that day....I think I know were the boat may have settled. I don't ever reccomend going in the water to retrieve a stranded boat let alone a sunk one. But in my case....I will use a shovel to see if is there at the other end of the pond...just a few feet out...since I know the water is shallow. If I don't get her....then oh well. She is probably a total loss anyway.

Just remember, if you do find it the prop will be fine, same with the rest of the hardware, engine might possibly be ok to if found soon enough but will need torn down and cleaned up- bearings checked as a main thing, even if its junk there will still be good parts on the engine, tower still has some aquacraft 18 parts for sale to.

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
I picked up one of these boats right after Christmas. At first I was disappointed with all the water I had leaking into the boat. After extensive troubleshooting I found the problem. I had a cracked header cooling pipe. The whole cooling coil was split in half. I ended up just making my own replacement out of some nitrous purge line I had lying around. The boat now seems awesome. I am looking forward to swapping my 4052/3 grim racer prop onto it and getting the engine tuned. Does anyone have any other recommendations of props or mods I should make?
