Well, I have my new CopterX and most of the parts. Still waiting on the motor and ESC.
I printed out the manual I got off of the internet. Kind of thin but it will get me through.
The thing no manual ever includes are the little tips and tricks that make all the difference in how the build goes and ultimately how the thing will fly.
Sooooo.......
If any of you could be so kind as to make some suggestions, I would really appreciate it

I suggest you use the Finless setup videos as this is pretty much an exact clone of the Trex 450. You are going to love these! You will have to register to download but registrations is free..
Do a google search for the videos.
If you need any specific help you can PM me here.

Soo... Empty we meet again! Hangin in the Rex forumwelcome the Copter-X should be a great heli. It is like my EXI probably, came in a box that said "helicopter" and had no manual. Go to Horizon Hobby the Rex manuals are online the set up should be the same if not similar. If it flys as good as my Rex SA, you are going to be a happy camper!!!

Hey HeliSmith.
I got a problem.
You see, I have never been accused of being the brightest bulb in the box.
What I mean is I'll do stuff like walk around the house looking for my keys, with them in my hand.
Or look for my sun glasses with them on my head.
I went to your link, found lots of posts, but cant find the vids.
Where are they?

Mostly just the servo installation, CCPM setup and gyro setup stuff you need if you are already experienced. I watched all of these videos more than once personally.
I can't get the links to work so I removed them. You can find them with google.

that nice cnc head should be thread locked
once you know where everything goes make sure you spend some time disassembling and reassembling that head, especially the rotor grips (feathering shaft inside) and apply blue threadlock to everything metal/metal

Nope. Dont know why but thats not the page that comes up when I click on the link.
It brings me out on a page with a post numbered 1621 by underdogak. Wish I knew how to screen cap it. I could show it to you.
Any other way to get there?

Nope. All that does is make my pointer flicker a little.
I am just going to go ahead and build it from the manual.
If I run into any questions I'll let you know

Just do a google search for finless bob....
P.S. When thread locking the lever arms in the head watch for the little washers. Don't lose them. Use a paperclip and put thread lock in the screw hole and then wipe the excess off with your finger. If you put it on the screw you will get thread lock in the bearing most likely. You can apply this method to lots of areas of the heli where bushings or bearings are present. Anything without a bushing or bearing just coat the threads of the screw and put it in.

Well, eveything went smooth as silk. Not a single problem. As soon as the rest of the electronics show up, I can set her up and go flying!
(Well, after I paint that ugly blue canopy.)
I do have two questions though.
Just exactly how tight should the belt be.
And second, I have heard of guys oiling the belt. Why would you ever put oil on a drive belt?
Thanks for all your help guys!

Hey Empty, man that blue canopy is cool! You dont oil the belt, people use silicone lube on it I guess it smooths things up and have been told it reduces static charges, especially importat with carbon frames I believe. I just leave mine dry and it seems to be ok like that . Tighten it til you can push it (with out great force) to 3/4 the way across to the other belt.

You oil the belt to eliminate drag and static. I do it like once a month.

Wow! My SA is using a 13, with room for a 15. Would have never thought there would be such a difference. There are 2 sets of holes on the Align motor, are you using the closer set?
