Default TREX 500 FIRST HOVER WITH TAIL WAG

During my first hover with my TREX 500, I noticed a slight tail wag while hovering. Throttle curve is 0, 55, 85, 95, 100. 13Tpinion, 401 gyro with 9254 tail servo. I have a DX6i tx and AR6200 rx. Gyro rate set at 70 on the tx. Any advice?? Thanks!

Hey bro,

What menu are you using for your gyro gain? (GYRO SENSE or GEAR ENDPOINTS)

A common cause of tail wag is too high of a gain....you can try to back it down some and see if that helps.

Nice heli....I LOVE my 500...it's my favorite heli to fly now.

Like Skarn said,
gain probably too high. Go into gyro menu & lower gain until tail wags stops, raise it one click if it wags back it off one & that should be fine. I have a GT500 on mine with the Align DS520 works great !

If that doesn't do it, check the belt tension.

Also check the slop in your tail grips. You might need to do some tweaking on them if there is a large amount of slop back there..

Make sure you are not running in subtrim in your rudder. I have heard that this can cause some issues as well. Also make sure that you are using the gyro tape that came with it, or get some for your 401. I tried double sided tape and it was a nightmare.

There is nothing wrong with using subtrim on rudder to get the servo arm at 90.

You should not use any trim, regular or subtrim to counter drifting however with a 401.

I have exactly the same setup and have the gyro settings of 63.5 and it is PURRRRRFECT.
