Default Tower .75

I am getting 12,500 RPM using an APC 12/6 prop and 10% synthetic fuel. Measured thrust is 9 lbs. Motor is installed in CG Tiger 60 and pulls great.

Richard, thanks for the info. The Tower 75 is an excellent
engine, and definitely has plenty of power. Can't beat the
price either.

Default Tower .75: a Powerhouse!!

I ditto the 12,500 with a 12x6 APC! I used 15% Cool Power though.

But I got an unbelievable 14,900 to 15,000 with a 11x7P APC. Checked this twice. I had to richen the low end quite a bit but the engine performs very well. It's a little more touchy than an OS but what a powerhouse and at a very fair price.

Just an update & clarification...

I sold my Enforcer without the Tower .75. I bench tested the engine and found out that a 11x7P APC is not the same as a regular 11x7 APC. My Tower .75 repeated the same RPM with a 12x6 puller (12,600) but turned 13500 rpm with a regular 11x7. With the pusher version it turned 14,900. Most-likely, the pitch is different but possibly the "shadow" of the engine and plane cause this difference.

Anyone else notice a large difference in the pusher vs. the regular puller configuration ??

Some new Tower .75 numbers with and without a Jett-Stream muffler.

all with 15% cool Power. all APC puller props.

With Tower 75 muffler

11x7 - 13,500
11x8 - 12,800
12x6 - 12,600

With Jett-Stream Muffler

11x7 - 13,600 - 100 rpm gain
11x8 - 13,150 - 350 rpm gain
12x6 - 13,000 - 400 rpm gain
12x7 - 12,575 - ? didn't test the 12x7 with std muffler.

Tached mine today 15000+ on a 12.25 x 3.75 on 10% omega, I have 2, one on U CAN DO 46 and the other on a Goldburg Extreme 330, instant throttle response, verticle out of sight in a hurry, and pulls at 10+ lbs.

Interesting news about these engines; I just got one on a whim, and from what you all report, it may not have been a bad one. I will see how it performs on my GP Shoestring .60 with my Arabian Special blend fuel, when I get round to putting it together.

My TH .75 is turning a APC 12/8 at 11,400 w/Slimline pitts on WC 10%, and this is flying Rpm not peak. My GP Shoestring hauls A** with this set up. I could not ask for any better performance. I have been asked several times about the power plant in my plane. Some people in the club just cannot get over the fact that it is a $85.00 engine from Tower.

Has anyone tested this engine with a 3 blade? Not sure what size to use but I just picked up a tower 75 and going to put it on a cmp 50 corsair. Do you think its to much engine for it? Glad to hear the 75 is a great engine.

I would say it is to much engine for a 50 size model.

If it'll balance and you do not mind a heavy warbird then go for it!

I have run the TH-75 in a Zen-50 pattern plane but that is pretty different than the F4U

Why not use a 4 stroker in the Warbird?

This engine will really wake up a 40 size airplane and make it fun to fly. I have been using the OS 61FX but now I wouldn't swap the Tower 75 for two OS61s. Best engine for the price out there. Only thing I would suggest is to JB Weld the muffler to prevent it from vibrating loose. I do this for the OS too because I have lost the rear portion on one and it cost almost as much for the Rear part of the muffler as the whole 75 engine costs.

that does it !! I`m adding a tower 75 to my wishlist on the towerhobbies websites. I`m currently flying my harrier 46 on the asp xls 52, and it performes great. I get 13700 on the asp 12,25-3,75, but if I could swing that prop at 15000 it would be even better, right?? Power out of trouble down low is what counts

I just got a Funtana 50X and put a TH 75 on it. I'm using a master airscrew 12X6 prop till it's broken in. 5 tanks on the ground and 7 flights running kinda rich to complete the break-in. I'm getting 11,500 RPM. In the air it is amazing. I putter around at about 1/4 throttle then pull up, give to gas, and do vertical snap rolls while it accellerates straight up. WOW! Idle is OK after some fiddling. Nice engine for the price.

The 75 likes to be loaded with a little prop the 12.25X3.75 is too small. I tried mine ona a 13X4 but it let it rev up beyond it designed range. I now run a 12.5X6. It will pull a 13X6 but seems to like the smaller prop better. I now have my 75 mounted on a Shrike 40 but haven't put in the air yet. I must say I am a little worried because I don't know if I can handle it.
