RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Ok. got my baby all put back together after a long exhaustive clean up (I indiviadually cleaned EVERy screw too !). Now I have a quick question. Its about camber. I realise its a matter of taste and testing but could somebody please give a base to start from. How many degree do I need to start with. I intend to bash NOT race. and is camber applied to both front and rear ?

-2 degrees front and rear is a good place to start.. it's not a huge deal to get it perfect for just bashing, I check mine once in a while but I'm not overly worried about it..

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Well guys, the end is here for my ownership of the MGT.
Why would I get rid of such an awesome monster, possibally the best general purpose truck made? Heres why;
My brother-in-law is in the Army and stationed at Fort Campbell, 101st Airborne to be exact. He's already been to Iraq twice and he's set to go back this September.
Unfortunately, hes a really good marksman and a natural leader so he's on the streets of Iraq knocking down doors and risking his neck on the "frontline"
To help him keep his head together (he's not too thrilled about going back) I have decided to give him the MGT. Atleast he will be able to take his mind off of going back with a little "nitro-therapy"
I was going to give him a CEN MG10 but it just doesnt have the jewels that the MGT has.
So as a final farewell, Im going to rebuild the engine and break it in for him and send it to its new home! I hope it will bring him many smiles as it has done me!

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
I will show pics. Too bad were all spread out all over the country, would be cool to sign it.
UPDATE: Instead of rebuilding the engine, Im going to buy a new one from EBAY. The replacement engine program sounds good on paper, until you see the MSRP of the engine at 250 bucks! Half that and its still too much. The Piston and sleeve are almost 80 bucks! A new one on ebay is only 100 or so from any of the guys that part 'em out. Thats the game plan.

There are a few more parts that Im hunting. Do any of you have a spare shock-spring-retainer? Its the little guy that hooks onto the bottom of the shock shaft and holds the spring...
Also, my tires are shot and are all cut up on the side walls, does anybody want to sell/donate me their stock tires/wheels if they are not using them?
This is definately for a worthy cause...my bro-in-law is headed back to Iraq soon for his 3rd tour and Im giving him my MGt to help keep his mind off of it, maybe he will take it over there...

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Hey webdr,
I just got back from Iraq about a week and a half ago on a 16 month tour and let me tell you that having my Evader over there helped tremendously! I thought about bringing my MGT with me but because of the 130 degree heat I thought it was going to be hard on it. I'm sure glad I had some form of RC to mess with to kill time over there. You’re doing the right thing...Hats off to you!

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Uh Oh looks like my MGT is starting to show signs of its beatings. Today I figured I would give her a once over with my old tooth brush as it was getting very dusty.
Looks like 2 of my rear turn bluckles got bent and the 14mm hexs are getting real sloppy. One of them was half stripped when I took the wheel off.
I think I'm going to just jam something in the little space between the wheel and the hex then coat the thing in locktite. As long as I let it dry that should hold up for a good while.

In a pinch, I have just bent the turnbuckle straight again......lasted a few months before it broke again.

RE: Monster GT anyone have one?
Pick up a set of lunsford turn buckles and your problems will be solved. They make the rims cheap so you have to replace them I'm going to go with 23mm wheels cause the .32 just rips the centers out.
