Hi Mike.
I have started work on my Sukhoi again, and the more I get into it the more disappointed I am getting. Went to hook up the elevator halves tonight. Check the length of my prolinks, check the position of the servo arms everything seems ok. Level the counterbalances with the front part of the stabilizer and check the incedence (hope this is the right term) between the two halves and guess what? It is off by 1/2". Strange thing is, I had another set of elevator halves from another Sukhoi. Slide them on, same thing-- 1/2" difference when the elevator halves match at the counterbalances. What should I do? How can you correct a problem like this? I have pictures of when I matched the back of the elevators showing the difference in the front of the counterbalances. The airframe you see is the replacement that was sent from Horizon. The wings (not shown) and stabilizer are from the original arf. When they shipped the fuse, all that was in it was the fuse, rudder and canopy/hatch assembly, which was all I was expecting and I did receive fast and curteous service.
P.S.
I know the molded swivel clevis isn't set to the right height in the pictures, but even when adjusted properly (5/8") the same problem exists.

To me the right elevator look low as I view it from the rear shot. That would ahreewith the mis match in the counter balances. If not, try twisting the warped elev and straightening witgh a heat gun.

I have the same problem but figured that once I get it dialed in, there will not be much effect. Is this wrong/ If I line the front up there is at least 1/2 inch difference between the trailing edges of the control surfaces. If I align the trailing edges of the control, then one side is flush, the other side is up about 1/4 inch. Now that is already attached, how do you heat and twist?

I noticed the low side and corrected for it after the pictures were made. The gap was 1/2" after raising it up. I used a straight piece of 1/4 x 1/4 hardwood and measured the difference as 1/2".
My first 2 sukhois were perfect. I will try the heat gun trick, but if it doesnt work, what should I do?
