Default 80"CAP elevator issues

I flew my Cap for the 3rd time today. This is my first big airplane. I was just wondering if you ever had any elevator sensitivity issues. It seems to stall the tail very easily. When I am on a down-line I have to be really careful on the pullout or the tail will stall and it starts to snap a little. I am running 95 % expo to try and smooth it out but I am just wondering do I have other issues or is that how Caps are. It is balanced at the forward limit but it has always felt pitchy. Any help would be appreciated.

No. How much throw do you have? 95% expo is huge! On low rate , you should only need about 40% or so. Sounds like either you have way too much throw or its pretty tail heavy.

The throw is set to 45 degrees up and and down on high rate. My low rate expo is 45 percent.

I'm not clear on this. Are you pulling out of the downline on high rate?

Yes I have been in high rates on the down line. I think I know what the problem is. I used a matchbox to set up the elevator. I also set my endpoints using the MB. My EPA on my radio is 100 percent. I think that because the way my linkage is set it only takes about 50 percent servo throw to acheive the desired surface throw. Since my transmitter is set at 100 percent EPA it is causing my elevator to be super touchy and there is not enough expo to smooth it out. This must sound confusing and I appreciate you taking the time to think about it. I will try using the low rate on a downline to alow more stable pullout.

Did you land this plane with power or do float it in at idle?

Hmm, I'd think the issue is that your trying to fly smoothly on high rates, which is almost impossible. Use low rates (about 12 degrees elevaotr at the most) for all flying except 3D.

On landings, it depends on where the CG is. If its tail heavy the tail will want to drop as it gets into ground effect. If more noseheavy, it'll stay more on a 2 point stance.

I will set that low rate and give it a try, thanks for the info.
