I only conver the fuselage, and use 20gms of the LS2, like this guys said it goooooooes a long way. I can see one covering 2 of maybe 3 planes if mix. But 2 60 planes definately if used without mixing it with alcohol. If this thing stay as strong as it is now, I dont see myself using glass ever againg.
Cheers

It will. we tore up one of the test parts last night. Heat, bending, tearing did everything but let the dog have at it. Did manage to break the wood but the stuff held together i then twitsted it and it pealed off a layer of balsa. Hope you dont want to remove it. I will lay down the wowplanese stuff tonight.

Thanks farmer, that gives me more confindent on this thing. I belive we have something here that will save us a lot of sanding. I went from a 2 day glass covering, to a 5 minutes application, and an over night cure time.
Cheers.

Someone correct me if I am speaking out of turn here. We have been lead to believe the shelf life is 6 months un mixed.
The 2 products in question are
Liquid Sheeting from www.wowplanes.com
Styro Spray 1000 http://www.industrialpolymers.com/pr...st/styrospray/
As you have seen in the background i have a spitfire about ready for paint and i just need to glass the tail feathers. Im going to do it with one of these products. If that works well I will be putting it on my TF ARC p47. And if all that works out....no more glass and resing for me.[8D]
That F4U isn’t mine that’s Gary Mills new Quantico 411 with a monster mokie radial in it. wooohoooo! He is building it for his next TopGun plane.

RE: The Pepsi Challenge for Covering Balsa with LS
How is it for filling area's, say you had a sheeted wing and it had a small low section that with glass you would spend a week filling and sanding 5 billions times.
Or had a few dings not through but fairly deep.
Did anyone do the join test yet?
Guess the simple question is how important is surface prep. pre-coating.
Who's going to be the first to shower it with gas or nitro? See what effect it has to the finish. flammability ounce cured (does it burn black and dealy, burn quickly?). Crashes happen and so do flames at times.

As for filling you will still need to do the body work. I would say you would want to do that before putting this stuff on. From what i can tell with the test parts this stuff is going to be dent resistant. I havent tryed setting it on fire or dousing it with gas yet.

The mockup wing is nice and dry. the final weight is 62 grams even up from 52 grams dry. Now this was un thinned product just part a and part b of styro spray.

This thread is a great thing. This could be something to get my "gotta build" juices going again. Have you noticed any problems when covering areas of balsa filler? Thanks for the honest information about the products. This is the type of "review" you will never find in a magazine. No hype, just the facts in a real world setting, and let the reader make up their own mind. Way to go!

I got all 3 tasks complete. Good news is no violent chemical reaction when I cross mixed the stuff. Will post the videos soon

Does glue stick to this stff? I ask because if one wants to add on the little details that go on after you glass ie bumps, blisters, exhaust stacks etc.

Max, Floats were actually the first thing I thought of for this stuff. Seems the ideal covering for abrasion resistance and more importantly, for waterPROOFness. I'm about done with built-up floats getting waterlogged and causing unpredicted CG shifts. Since I can't carve a styro float to save my life, but can scratchbuild a pair in 3-5 hours, this stuff sounds like just the stuff the Dr ordered.
Placed my 8oz LS2 order today. If it really does well, I'll go for the quart size stuff next.
