Canopy Latch
I have a Hanger 9 Yak 54 (89" wing span) and the canopy is held on with 6 screws, 3 down each side. I'm looking to replace the screws with latches for easy removal, but not sure how to modify the present configuration. Anyone have a good way to install latches?

I have modified a few smaller planes that had canopys and hatch compartments with these little spring loaded latches. They work pretty good but I havent tried them on big models.

I might have to try these.
Every hatch latch I've bought recently looked good in the pictures, but really disappointed when I received them.

I've tried these on my YS .91-powered scale racing warbirds (such as in the P-39 pictured in my avatar), and unfortunately found that the vibration was too much for them. The hole that the latch mounted in would eventually enlarge enough that the canopy hatch would rattle and the paint would wear away from the continuous friction . . . all due to the vibration. I still found it necessary to bolt them down at the front of the hatch where the latch mechanism was located, So all the extra efforts of installing the latch ended up for naught.
Just a word of caution, for what it is worth. I wish you better luck.

Why not try putting a piece of brass tubing in the hole for the latch pin would go in?
