I used the associated mgt spur gear with traxxas pegs in all the holes & it works fine with savage clutchbells..

Ok, after 2 hours at my LHS here is the progress i made and the list of parts i ordered.

1. Axial .28RR (38,500 RPM!!! http://www.axialracing.com/details.php?Id=3531 )
2. Big Block Universal Mount
3. Big block clutch kit by XTM
4. Revo Spec slipper clutch assembly(This will let me use Jato spur gears)
5. Jammin JP2 pipe (For top end)
6. Traxxas big bore shocks

It was a hard debate on the engine. Everyone is skeptical about a 60+ mph T-Maxx. I decided on this engine because of the rpms. Everything else i will need they have in stock, for now i just have to wait.

Advertized RPM and real world RPm are two totally different things...the Axial RR is not a high RPM engine, in fact it doesn't rev any higher then the Axial 28 Spec 1S..... either way in a Tmaxx it will do quite fine...however a Picco 28 likely has it by at least another 5000 RPM once they hit the ground ! good luck !

This is promising.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eD5-CkmDx0

just to play devils advocate this guy may have had his radar gun reading kmh instead of mph.

just sumthin to think about

62 kmh is roughly 38 mph

i watch all that guys videos, the gun is in KPH not MPH..Axials are not top speed engines, good low end torque this, plenty of wheelies !

Huh... the pegs looked to be well short of sticking out both sides to me. They were brand new.

I think the only way you are going to reach 60mph is with a brushless conversion. MMM 2200 on 6s lipo could get you there... BUT I'd go with something lower kv and more voltage. 60 for a MT is similar to 110 for a touring car. It's possibe, but it takes a whole lot to get there.

check this out-

8ight 80+ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKctW...eature=related - not a MT but demonstates BL power
MT going 59 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xi46j...eature=related - This truck could go faster with some bigger tires and other small high-speed tweaks like lowering it.

If I kept looking I'm sure I could come up with more.

You said a MT nitro powered couldnt hit 60s, thats why he posted my vid of the 66mph revo..
I only used 30% nitro on the 66 mph run with an ABmods Drag modified Picco .28
I could have used wider gearing too, i am currently working on a slightly different setup for spring..

For now the fastest brushless revo i seen was 62.8mph powered by MMM V3 and 2200kv CC.

For the brushless buggy... with all the money thata look to be spent into it i hope it get at least 81! lol
Heres my friend Ofna Violator(heavier than a 8eight) at 77 mph with Nitro OS .28XZ mildly modified by me...
Thats the fastest single nitro engine buggy (non-officialy..)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUJluk2DGU4

Heres also a 70mph savage twin engine : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgALP095AQI

All that to say hes running a nitro powered tmaxx, and he CAN hit 60 with the right stuff

Good luck with your tmaxx, gear it with revo gears at least 22T 34T and use HPI Phaltline tires, you will get about 60 mph with a good engine.

Guys after waiting over a month for parts, hours of headaches, several trips to the LHS and the hardware store, and a couple internet orders i am finally done with my big block. The linkages were a big pain just as i thought, however everything else went pretty good.

It just dropped below freezing where i live so i am waiting for it to warm up before i start break in. I am going to run 30% nitro and start with almost stock gearing 22/72. I don't want to push too hard during break in so i am going to wait before i start experimenting my gear combinations.

Also, i inspire 2 people that hang out at my LHS to break the 60mph barrier in a t-maxx, so our chances on seeing a 60mph T-Maxx just got higher. They both have big blocks.

Here are some pics of the finished product. Videos will come soon.

why not put the reciever battery on the left side under the linkage to keep it protected?? with the extended chassis you shouldnt have the problem of wheelies..

looks good so far....for your high speed runs when trying to go as fast as possible I suggest removing the front and rear bumpers...cutting down front and rear skids and going without a radio box.....will save you a few grams for sure.......pick a very thin lexan boby for it and mount it as low as possible on the chassis(actually the stock Tmaxx body is perfect)......without the bumpers you will be able to keep the front and rear of the body totally intact making it alot easier to punch a hole through the air.....I've done all this with a small block...never got an accurate MPH but it was over 50 for sure I used the stop watch and measured distance method.... that was running a 20T clutchbell can't remember the spur gear tooth count.....I will say the mesh was the hardest part....I ran the slipper fairly loose as well since traction off the line was not an issue at all.

+1 wheelies won't be a problem at those speeds.

looks good though. can't wait for speed tests

Cool, its a nice looking truck. Why is the linkage positioned that way? What limited you from using the stock setup?

The pipe was in the way. Plus that was the way the chassis was designed. The chassis is extremely thick. I didnt want to drill through it.
