Got my box today. Packed well and no damages at all.
Will add couple YS-63's.
Waiting on retracts and Mr Kondor has repeatedly said retracts to follow.
But plenty to do first. Servos to use? Elevator to figure out..ie How to use servos there etc. calls for pull pull system with wire...means spoil looks on top with horn.
Add Pilot or none?
Guns or none?
Includes decals, extra covering in red and grey. Nice touch.
Dang I have to leave for work next couple days. Arrgghh

It is actually 2 boxes in one. Top has center cockpit canopy and cowls and hardware. Bottom has 2 engine pods and wings and flaps part of wngs and lastly elevator and small rudders
Magic how they packed these. All are in bags and well packed. This is not scale and the engine pods have seams that are prominent. It is well glued and fiberglassed.
OK pics won't go...too big. I'll figure another way and upload later.
Ratzzzz
The glueing is epoxy and heavy at that. No glue stick here..real glue like I'd use at important junctions.
The covering is deluxe. Nice job. Most of the paint is good. Some less due to a few scratches but nothing that can't be waxed out. The cowls are painted well and seem to be of fiberglass..light glass though. But who wants a heavy cowl??
This has got me excited even more so than my F4U that is here.
I may put aside all else and get at this.
I'll figure out how to make the pics smaller in size.
There is tubes like on my imac stuff for the wings and pods. Outer wings will be removable for transport. But I won't use there rubber band idea. I like to screw. oops can I say that here? Anyways it is well built.
sorry guys about pics,

Thanks for the pictures, where can I go see the specs and pricing? Is it about the same as the VQ one through morris? I like the morris one but .46's on a 14.5-16.5lb plane, seems like it should be at least .61's.

I called KMP and he's not in the offic and his voice mailbox is full and his recording is babbling about no he doesn't have the retracts yet and he will get them to the people who paid for them, hmmm all I wanted was to get a price for the kit, wether it came with the retracts for the $499 on the web site and if there were other color schemes, the answering message has me wondering if this guy is very reputable, is he?

KMP has always dealt very fairly with me.
The price includes complete air system. Valve, tank, lines, retracts ie the whole system.
However the retracts were delayed on the last shipment and will come later.
I am on the road and will do pics middle next week.
About 6 months ago KMP did a survey of some modelers of the colors for this guy. This was by far the most popular.
It is the only color that I know of.
Hope this helps Evan.

Hi Guys,
My P 38 and Seafury kit arrived today. No retracts yet. I will be repainting my 38. I'm partial to yellow cowls , black antiglare, and invasion stripes. These are nice kits and worth the wait. I ordered mine in March or April can't remember. I will be powering the 38 with 2 OS 91 Surpasses, The Seafury will get an MVVS 1.6 gas.
Thanks,
Fred Menna Check6

You say the retracts come separately????? (Not shipped with the kit?)

I think the deal is that the factory in China did not have enough retracts made and instead of delaying the entire order, they are airshipping the retracts a couple weeks behind.

Well, after six months of modifying, it flew. I put three flights on it today. It took off in about 10 feet mostly because it needed 5/16" of down elevator to fly straight because of the +5 1/2° of wing incidence and - 1° of horizontal stab incidence. Other than that no trim was needed. Inverted flight needed no additional down elevator after the plane was trimed out for level flight. I didn't use flaps for take of but did use about 3/8" for landings.
What did it take to get it into the air? First there were many quality problems. One boom, one outer wing panel, the retracts, and the canopy were replaced due to various defects. The cowls though not replaced had hairline cracks and were fiberglass on the inside for additional strength. The replacement retracts were also marginal and I did use the mains though I replaced the nose with a spring air unit. I like power so I installed two GMS .76 ringed engines and they balanced the plane perfect and have been great in the air. I put in Sullivan 12oz tanks for 20 minutes of flying plus reserve. I installed twin elevator servos next to the rudder servos and use Dave Brown push rods for elevator and rudder. I extended the wing tubes because they looked too short and a lot of work went into getting a good snug fit for the out wing panels on the wing tubes. In fact everything needed a lot of TLC to get it right.
Bottom line, it fly's well and looks good doing it.
Thanks to Andrew for replacing defective parts and going the extra mile to keep the customer happy.

Here is the pictures from a modeler in Germany who modified his KMP elevator to correct the incidence problem.
He emailed me directly thinking he had a VQ. I checked mine (Yes, I am back in the air with number two) and three other local VQ P-38's and could not find an incidence problem. He sent me this picture of his repair and I discovered he had the KMP or whatever it is called in Germany. He also found a 5 degree difference between the wings and elevator.
Not sure of how this modification is done, but here is the picture. Look at the picture closely and you can see how much he lowered the elevator angle.
Good Luck,
Twinman

Thanks, but that would be a lot of work I don't want to do. I think it would also weaken the booms in the tail area.
Mine, and I assume all KMP P-38's, fly good with the 5/16" of down trim. It just looks funny when you look at it on deck. I can't see that it would have any bad effect other than possibly stalling the elevator if I give it full down elevator while inverted. Right side up full up is only 1/4" of up in relation to the trailing edge of the stab. I also put in more throw than was recommended and the flaps have aileron mixed to them for more roll or if the ailerons ever went out.....
