Great pics! Thanks for the info. Once yours is maidened it looks like yours will be complete. Once we have maidened ours we will go back and cut in the windows and do the paint. I guess I need to start looking for photos to see how close to the original sceme we can do it.
Thanks again.

RE: Ziroli DC-3
Did some taxi tests this evening, everything went well except for some glitches I experienced at close range. Also need to get the engines to spool up a little more in sink. One of the US 41's had some carb issues,we changed the carb and also the gaskets because it was sucking air were it seats on the crankcase. This is what happens when you buy used stuff.Im a bit worried about this engine..
Anyways all the bugs are showing up now and I just have to eliminate them before a test flight. Were can one get a new US41 now are they still out there for sale?

Hey Steve,
Check the list at the US Engines website. Might have to go through them. With a quick check I found that Hobby Barn was on their list but did not show the engine on their website.

RE: Ziroli DC-3
Geez its been a real busy summer for me.didn't get much r/c flyin in.And I've installed a power expander ,another receiver, and new switches to the DC3 to eliminate the glitches only to discover that it is probabily the throttle cables that are doing the dirty deed indeed. So I'm switching to nyrods to control the throttles and hopefully eliminate the glitches forever and ever....then maybe I can end this thread and get onto something else ...

RE: Ziroli DC-3
Dont forget to end it with some video and flight reports.
Things are slow in Fla. I guess I might have to go over to help getting the setup done. Funny how the days can be longer but we seem to find time to work more.(pay for gas and groceries)

Steve,
You might consider Nero Ultra. It's an easy and powerful tool; it will handle all your video/audio/data needs for a long time to come. About $100.
If you have a video and don't want to spend the money, I'd be glad to edit it for you as you would like (for posting or whatever). Your video would have to be on DVD... or you'd have to send me your camera

RE: Ziroli DC-3
Here are some pics from today.(brother Frank on right with co-builder, Royce on left) Plane has clear coat over the primer, my brother is not sure what sceme he will eventually paint it as.
Anybody have a source for DC-3 pics from WW-3 through Vietnam?
We did an electronics setup today and now only need to run in the engines and range check. Will keep posting on this thread as progress happens. If it was my plane it would be flying already.
G-38 for power
Robart Retracts
Smart-Fly Power Expander
2X3300 FAUP NIMH with Badger Switches for receiver/servo power
1/4 scale Hitec Servos (can't remember the number)
The plane came out to 138 1/2 wingspan as the copied plans were not quite right...44 lbs with 6 lbs in the nose.

RE: Ziroli DC-3
Hi-
Just a short report that my Ziroli C-47 in RNAF finish has 5 flights on it sofar. It came out at 19.7kg (43.43lbs) dry, plus it carries 2 x 1 litres of fuel for its Saito 200ti engines. With twin 2400mah NiCds in the nose we had to add 750g of lead there to make it balance.
The plane flies very smooth and cruises at above scale speed at half throttle with this setup. As mentioned before, this is an all-composite version of the 1:8 Dakota with a slightly increased wing span (10cm) and washout. Sorry, no flight pix yet, but to sum it up this Dakota almost takes off and lands itself and could perhaps be described as a big motorglider

RE: Ziroli DC-3
Hi everyone!!!
Super link and really good pictures. I´m hoping someone here can help me. I´m looking for a kit or plans for a DC 3 in 1/6 scale, and if a did my mathe right it should be 189.6 in. in span.
Is it possible to buy a DC 3 that large?
Regards
Richard
