Default My first twin

Hi guys!

I'm looking for some inspiration before building my first twin engine airplane. I don't need it to be a scale model, it should by only similar to some of the real birds in outlook. I like planes with two rudders. I'd like to use two MVVS 3,5ccm engines, but I have also the electro equipment, so there is a lot of space for experiments.
Does anybody have something like this? Pictures, links, plans...

Looks great. It isn't cheapest... Well I'm sure I'm gonna build it by my self but I don't want a kit. Any free plans?

Here is a plane that may suit your needs. It is a Twin Lizzie 2, a balsa & ply construction for two .049s or electrics. Weighs in at 35 oz. and has a 52.8" span. Wing area: 408 sq.in. It looks very nice, don't you think?

It was originally a 1959 M.A.N. plan by Keith Laumer that has been redesigned and published in the April 2006 issue of Flying Models magazine. You can order the plans from [link=http://www.flying-models.com/]Flying Models[/link], look for plan CD276.

Ehm, now I saw one of the videos of the Twin-air, and I have to say that I expected something different. I don't like aerobatics with twin engine airplane, what I love is a slow, stabile flight with low passes, touch-and-go...

If my metric conversion is correct, your 3.5 ccm MVVS's work out to about 0.21 cu in, or roughly a pair of .25's.

Hobby Hangar offers kit/ARF versions of Rich Uravich's ~50in OV-10 Bronco. Twin booms and rudders, and it's a pretty stable flyer. Might be a bit underpowered if your MVVS's are only .20 cu in., so you'd have to build it light.

Another choice would be the Hobbico Twinstar... only a single rudder, but supposed to fly OK on a pair of .25's

Hi Ivan,
I had a twinstar and it flew great. it is very stable and will fly on one engine. I used 2 os 25 bushing engines and it was more than enough power. I was able to do touch-and-go, low slow flight and lands like a dream. if you want something quick and relatively cheep then it's a really good deal. I didn't like the sticky paper covering so i recovered mine with monokote.
Good flier.

Tony

Yes, it's correct. Well, I think Bronco is the type I'm looking for. If only they had, as they call it, "Laser Pak" of the smaller Bronco. [on their web page, I only found Laser Pak for the bigger one].

Is there any other manufacturer producing laser cut sets/kits for 0.21 engines?

Hobby Hangar has a complete kit for the little Bronco. Last I looked, US$130. Definately not a first kit, as the instructions are somewhat vague, but if you've built a couple of kits, or are pretty good mechanically, it produces a nice airplane. There's a fair amount of "how to" in the OV-10 3 blade prop size thread, as well as a couple of other threads.
