Default Twin RC airplane...

In the pictures, I see the engines mounted sideways. Talking to a lot of guys that built twins before, the back and forth motion of the pistons can set up a vibration that can cause one, or both the engines to quit on you!?! With both the twins I built, I mounted the engines so that they were mounted straight up and down. I never had an engine out on my twins. I will post a pic of my RCM trainer in a day or two when I have time. Cheers! 🙂

Yes, please post a picture!

Interesting to hear about engine orientation being the cause for engine outs. Never heard that before.

Default RCM twin pics. Don't bother with the flaps! They are extra work and not needed!

Bottom wing, servo and throttle lead wiring. The servo you see here are for the flaps. Don't bother!! The plane will land at just above walking speed with out them!!!

Default RCM weight...

Just for info. I weighed it once. It was 15 pounds with the receiver battery but with no fuel. I am using 10 oz. fuel tanks. The engines are OS 46FX. Lots of power and easy to tune! 🤗

I picked up a 4*60 a couple of years ago off of FB mkt place. The guy was trying to convert it to electric and gave up on it. I picked it up real cheap but it is badly fuel soaked. Trying to dry it out with KR2 & heat with towels but this may be a perfect candidate for a twin conversion. It has a 79 inch wingspan with the added wingtips.
did you design the nacelles yourself or are there plans to do this somewhere?
I designed the nacelles myself but they were super simple. They were just a light ply box that fit between the wing ribs. The box was notched to fit over the spar and I removed the leading edge and I'm pretty sure I sheeted the wing one bay on either side of the nacelle. A fuel tank sat between the firewall and spar. The servos were behind the spar. I cut the original firewall out and pulled the sides of the nose together as close as I could and built in a structure in between. I think the landing gear came from a 4 Star 120. I checked the photo and I pretty sure this was 20 years ago.

Default 4 Star 60 wing...ng the 4

I put the front end from one model and the tail section from another together. I found that the 4 Star wing would fit the body so added that. That plane is a fantastic flyer!! The wing has some small gaps where it fits to the body. That make the plane whistle when I make high speed turns. Everybody stops what they are doing to look up and watch the plane. Love this plane!! 😁🤗
