PAW makes diesel RC motors. There is a .15 and .19 and they go way up from there. 2.5cc etc. I'd think the .15 or .19 would be a good fit. They can be had for around 50 dollars on ebay. Here is one: http://cgi.ebay.com/PAW-149-DS-Diese...#ht_500wt_1182
I don't know much about them, but I think it would be fun to fit one. There are kits to convert the nitro to diesel as well.

Also here is a video of a revo converted to diesel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekrlUCKn31A
As you can tell, it sounds different especially at idle. There are a lot of airplane diesel engines, but I don't know if they would work in this application.

Mouton, thanks for the advice. How easy is it to get an OS mounted to the Blizzard chassis, from what I've seen the mounts are completely different? Also, is there any easy way to beef up the drivetrain? I appreciate thatthe extra torque might stretch the drive chains, butfrom what I've seen of the brushless conversions, isthis reallymuch of a problem? The transmissionas a whole seems to cope with brushless power just fine.

subyman, technically, a glow fuel nitro engine is very close to a 1:1 diesel engine. RC aircraft diesels usually run on ether and not the diesel you put in a real tractor. Today, most RC pilots that use IC engines use either gas/petrol or glow fuel (nitro) engines. Diesels are few and far between.
Paul1981, you will need an engine mount (and drill two new holes in the chassis). The NB has Kyosho's standard three-hole motor mount that is part of the engine. Most engines use a four screw mount that requires a separate engine mount in the vehicle. That is all you need as long as you get an engine with the standard crankshaft and side exhaust. If you do get an engine that has an SG crankshaft, you will also need a new clutch.
The drive train can cope with a powerful engine, but with increased power the need to have everything 100 % perfectly adjusted increases.

Also, what weight oil would you recommend filling the diff with? I've serviced and re-built my Blizzard but the steering is snatchy as hell, there is absolutely no modulation. The brakes seem to be either "on" or "off" so I'm either travelling straight or turning in my own tracks, I can't seem to make minor adjustments whilst travelling. Thanks.

I would say NB is short for Nitro Blizzard

To be fair I was a little bit drunk when I was thinking about that last night. Any ideas on the diff oil?

Swedish company ArtAttack made RC snowmobiles already in the late 1980s. They surface every now and then on eBay and various trading sections. I do think they are still around, however production levels are low.

US company ArtAttack still sell their RC snowmobile kits over at [link=http://www.artattacksnowmobile.net/]http://www.artattacksnowmobile.net/[/link]. I bought one directly from them a while back, but didn't finish building it yet. Sorry for going off-topic. The reason I'm lurking here is of course that I'm considering buying one of those lovely Blizzards

I know I'm replying to an old post, but I'd just like to point out that this is not entirely correct.

RE: LB Getting Ready for SNOW - Kyosho EP Blizzard DF-300 Thread!
i know i should read through this thread, but that would take awhile.
i just traded for a blizzard EV roller. it doesnt have the motor, pinion, spur, ESC, radio or body.
so, im in need of parts. i might also need the brake linkages.
i tried ebay(where i buy most RC items i need) but there isnt much there.
what online hobby shop carries parts?
also, does the DF-300 share parts with the EV? if i could replace older parts with the newwer DF-300 parts then that would make sense.
lastly, im wanting to build for some speed. i have a 17t brushed motor, but i also have a traxxas VXL system i could use. but will the EV handle a brushless motor on 2s lipo?

You can usually order parts directly from Kyosho...
http://www.kyoshoamerica.com/
Maybe send them an e-mail and see what exactly you need..

do you know if the EV and DF-300 share any parts?

Yes, they are basically identical.. other than the EV has the chrome wheels.. and different shell.. !!

If you go back to the beginning of the thread, you can see what people do to make it more limited slip in the differential, and then use the brake pads to make it more sensitive when it comes to steering..
Good luck!
